Saphe MC traffic alarm, warns about all speed camera types in traffic, speed camera detection throughout Europe, starts automatically on departure via Bluetooth & App

It was with a little trepidation I ordered a Saphe MC from Amazon. Another purchaser had described the Saphe MC as "absolutely useless, better to go with Radarbot" and I was also concerned by Saphe's own description of the device as being" tailor made for Germany and Austria." However Saphe ( in Denmark) were easy to contact and assured me the Saphe MC would work well enough in the UK.And it does.The device easily connects to my phone via a bluetooth connection and works well enough on the road readily identifying and warning the rider about oncoming Speed Cameras. The one major drawback is that the warning signal is just not loud enough and, unlike other Saphe devices made for use in cars , the volume of the MC's signal can not be adjusted.The Saphe MC has been specifically designed for motorcycle riders but with a motorcycle there is considerable external noise both from the engine ( my own bike is fitted only with the manufacturer's stock exhaust system), traffic noise and more especially from wind noise. If motorcyclists had had anything to do with the design of the Saphe MC, they would have been aware of this and would have increased the set volume of the warning beeps, or at least made the volume adjustable (as it is with other Saphe devices) so that the rider could adjust the volume according to his/her individual preference. Some product development needed here, Saphe!

Does what it says on the tin

Having owned a Saphe mini for some time and being quite impressed with it I decided I needed something similar for when I was on two wheels so bought this. The first one I got I sent back as it didn’t seem to work but ordered another straight away and as soon as it arrived mounted it inside my helmet and got out on the road to test it…mmm same as the first one silence at all the cameras my Saphe mini always picked up until I heard a slight peep at one camera and realised that it isn’t really loud enough to be heard over the road noise even when used in my full face helmet, the warning does get louder if you approach a camera too fast (so I’m told🤥) but unlike the Saphe mini there is no way to turn up the volume so I took off 3 stars. The included sticky tape is useless but as I use it on several different helmets I fix it in with Velcro. I’m just hoping a future update will allow the user to adjust the volume.

Ich habe mich bewusst für das kleinste und günstigste Exemplar von Saphe entschieden, welches eigentlich für den Einsatz unter einem Motorradhelm gedacht ist. Vorteil dieses kleinen Gerätes: es hat kein Display und fällt daher im Fahrzeug kaum auf. Ich habe es unter der Sonnenblende rein gesteckt, dort wo man normalerweise Parkscheibe, Rettungskarte oder Fahrzeugschein aufbewahrt. Dort ist es praktisch unsichtbar. Die Signalisierung eines Ereignisses wird von dem kleinen Gerät mit einem deutlich wahrnehmbaren Piepton angezeigt. Die Lautstärke des Pieptons lässt sich nicht einstellen. Da man die Sonnenblende quasi unmittelbar vor dem Kopf hat ist die Lautstärke im normalen Fahrzeugen aber definitiv ausreichend. Zusätzlich kann man einen Warnton über das gekoppelte Smartphone ausgeben. Dieser ist entweder der Standard Benachrichtigungston des Smartphones oder eine Sirene im Stil amerikanischer Polizeifahrzeuge. Leider kann man den Ton nicht frei wählen, was ein bisschen nervig sein kann da gerade der sirenenton wirklich laut und penetrant ist. Allerdings kann man je nach Ereignis einstellen ob man den Warnton über das Smartphone möchte, also beispielsweise bei Tempo Kontrollen diesen ausgeben und bei Staugefahr nicht. Die Qualität der Warnungen ist sehr gut, ich war bereits zuvor Nutzer der Blitzer.de App und bin daher damit vertraut dass die Meldungen gut und ziemlich aktuell sind. Da man in der Saphe App kein Navigationsziel eingibt, bzw. das Gerät nicht die Fahrtrichtung berücksichtigt wird man auch vor Ereignissen im näheren Umkreis gewarnt, egal ob diese auf der aktuell gefahrenen Route liegen. Auch Ereignisse in der Gegenrichtung werden angezeigt. Dies ist konzeptbedingt und war mir vor dem Kauf auch so bewusst. Die Blitzer.de Datenbank, die von Saphe verwendet wird beruht auf aktuellen Meldungen der App Nutzer, man bedient sich hier der Schwarmintelligenz. Feste Blitzer sind permanent in der Datenbank gespeichert, alles andere wird aktuell von über 100.000 Nutzern dort abgelegt. Das heißt natürlich auch: wenn man wirklich der Erste an einer Gefahrenstelle oder einer Radarkontrolle ist und diese zuvor von keinem Benutzer in der Datenbank abgelegt wurde hat man Pech gehabt. Andersherum können gemeldete Ereignisse von weiteren Nutzern bestätigt oder widerlegt werden. Auf diese Art und Weise verschwinden die temporären Ereignisse auch wieder in der Datenbank. Für alle beschriebenen Interaktionen, das heißt für das Ablegen, aber auch für das Bestätigen und Widerlegen der Ereignisse muss die App bedient werden - dieses Gerät von Saphe besitzt hierfür keine Funktion, sondern dieses ist nur bei den größeren Varianten mit Display und Bedienungselementen möglich. Trotzdem ist die Kombination aus Saphe Gerät und App deutlich besser als die Nutzung der Blitzer.de App, schon alleine weil man bei Fahrtantritt keinen manuellen Eingriff braucht. Das Gerät erkennt den Start der Fahrt automatisch und deutet dies durch eine kurze Signalisierung an. Die Saphe App verbindet sich im Hintergrund und man muss sie nicht geöffnet haben. Die App zeigt das signalisierte Ereignis in Textform und als Push-Nachricht an, das heißt ein Beifahrer könnte sie dann dem Fahrer gesetzeskonform mitteilen. Insgesamt ist es ein tolles Gadget, das eine Menge zur eigenen Sicherheit beiträgt, da es Gefahrenstellen erkennt und meldet. Alle Kosten der Nutzung sind mit dem Kauf abgegolten, das heißt man muss kein kostenpflichtiges Abo abschließen.

Prodotto davvero utile per evitare multe (autovelox mobili o fissi, posti di blocco) ma anche per evitare incidenti o strade trafficate perché segnala tutto questo e altro ancora. Lo utilizzo sia in moto che in macchina e devo dire che funziona alla perfezione. Preciso nelle segnalazioni e secondo me un ottimo prodotto per quanto riguarda qualità / prezzo! Le segnalazioni sono personalizzabili e si possono ricevere solo dal Cell o solo dal dispositivo o da entrambi. Io non ho utilizzato l adesivo in dotazione ma ne ho applicato io uno a strappo proprio perché lo sposto da auto a moto e inoltre potendo riceve anche notifiche di sosta scaduta (con l apposito widget sul telefonino) lo porto anche con me quando parcheggio in posti con discorario o a pagamento. Chi nota autovelox o altro non individuati dal sistema può segnalarlo e verranno aggiunti dopo verifica quindi più saremo ad averlo e meglio sarà.

Ich konnte dieses kleine flache Gerät hinter das Futter des Helmes legen, (liesse sich auch kleben). Es quitscht bei einer Warnung ganz ordentlich, so dass man es laut genug hört und aufmerksam wird. Nur ist es eine Fummelei, die Knopfbatterie zu wechseln und ganz so einfach ein und ausschalten is nich, wenn es im Futter versteckt ist. So quitscht der Alarm bei jedem Ampelradar, was nervt, wenn man täglich die gleiche Strecke fährt.

L'idea di fondo del dispositivo è molto buona, avvisa degli autovelox fissi (ma anche traffico, incidenti e semafori con telecamere), quindi è utile quando si percorrono strade che non si conoscono, ma le mappe non sono aggiornate al giorno corrente, in questo Waze è più efficiente, quindi i dispositivi installati recentemente (diciamo da circa un mese o poco più e che ne conosco la posizione, sulla mappa non ci sono). All'interno del casco occupa pochissimo spazio, non da molto fastidio, ovviamente bisogna trovare la posizione giusta che non faccia poi male con l'utilizzo prolungato (io dopo vari spostamenti di pochi centimetri l'ho trovata). L'unico consiglio che posso dare è di provarlo se ne sentite il bisogno.
