A ratchet or what? I.e. what goes in the metal handle?** A: This will be the only strap you will ever need. We could not loosen our whole house water filter aside from breaking it! This is for oil and fuel filter removal in the automotive and truck field. In its proper use, it works excellent in tight access areas. **Q: How long is this strap?** A: just over 25 inches of usable length. 26 inches to the bar. **Q: How small of a filter will it fit? down to 2.5” like a polaris rzr filter?** A: I use mine on larger diameters but, after checking my strap on a propane bottle, just under 3", it appears it would work. I also checked it on a bottle of pneumatic oil, which is at 2.5" and if it were not for the bottle being flexible, I believe it would work. I purchased my strap wrench to loosen water filter housings and it is the only one of the three I have that would work. Worth a try. PS, I would try my wrench on my oil filer on my lawn tractor but I really do not want to loosen it. plus, it is 3" in diameter.
