And as this book gives such good practical guidance on how to do your job well, it is very relevant to CASC examinations, and was a core text for my revision. Recently all new Core Trainees at SLaM Trust received a copy and this should definitely continue as a practice at all mental health Trusts! As I say, this is The bible; don't be at work without it. The authors themselves explain why the contents can be repetitious, because of the way it is intended to be referred to. Perhaps there would be scope for a more compact edition in future. I had a mixed reaction to the boxed quotes from trainees - some were interesting, some a bit trite. It's a good idea in some ways but perhaps could be omitted in the compact version. Necessarily it is pitched at a level which assumes the reader may know very little.
