Great classic OEM+ head unit
A feature to change the screen colour would make it a 5/5 product

Missing vital features
Missing 2 vital features which I assumed would be present. 1. When an external bluetooth device is connected - ie phone or TV, volume can NOT be controlled by the device, only on the unit itself. This is unlike any blutooth device I have ever owned, including the 10 year old head unit it replaced. 2. This base model does not have an optional remote available. If you browse Blaupunkt advertising in general you see many units support an optional remote - this unit does not. I bought this unit for use in a motorhome to connect to devices and TV by bluetooth. It is useless in this role, as the TV remote will not control the sound, so you have to get up and do it manually, and can't buy a remote. Other than this glaring and unusual error the unit is typical Blaupunkt retro, but to be honest, they have cheapened it too far. The sound is sub par in my opinion. For an entry level unit costing 5 times more than similar featured no names, I am bitterly disappointed. I should have bought the noname.

Simple, retro look and excellent 'hands-free' phone quality.
I bought it because I wanted few functions, but a good 'hands-free' to work in a convertible car with the roof down. I stream from my phone with it in bluetooth mode, it looks good, is simple, and works perfectly. Great sound, great value!

Nice retro looking unit, but too much interference
Looks like it was made for late 90's / early 2000's cars and fits nicely into the dashboard without looking conspicuous like most single din aftermarket radios that have tiny buttons that are hard to read without taking your eyes off the road. The bluetooth worked well both for phone calls and streaming as well as pickup on the built in Mic. However mine developed a constant background interference noise which wouldn't go away even when the engine was off (but ignition on). I fitted the old stereo back briefly to test if it was a problem with the car/alternator but it wasn't so the unit went back. A pity as it looks & functions very well, let's hope it was just a duff unit I had.

Top voor in een youngtimer
Fijne radio voor in een oudere auto. Oogt sober maar werkt super met bluetooth of zelfs bellen op de geintegreerde microfoon.

Great radio, though a tad expensive!
It suited really well my W202 which, to my pleasant surprise, not only used ISO connectors, but also shared the exact same wiring diagram of the original Becker Special unit (be sure to check with yours, don’t blame me for eventually frying your radio!), so it was a true plug and play installation. The included adapter cage wasn’t a good fit and the design of the locking clips interfered with the dashboard, so I had to get a technician using a different one instead. The audio quality isn’t exactly audiophile-grade, but it’s right on par with modern-day OEM units, which was the goal here. It pairs really well with my phone and the call audio quality (for both sides) is superb. It definitely ticks all the check marks I was looking for! Finally, it’s great that it follows a conservative, traditional design language that doesn’t scream out of place on most 80s to early 2000s cars. The end result won’t pass off as signed by Bruno Sacco himself, but has brought me the convenience of music streaming and hands-free calls without making my prized Mercedes look like a Fast and Furious ricermobile. On the bottom line, this is a China-made unit that doesn’t feel like the old, European-made products that OG Blaupunkt had gotten us used to. That being said, while it doesn’t feel cheap, nor does it compare to some AliExpress rebranded junk, I do feel I’m overpaying for this solely because of the scarcity of other options as far as traditional-looking, aftermarket head units go. If I’d dare to say, 50 bucks sound more in line with what you’re getting.

A cost-effective head unit which appears period correct for older vehicles.
A minimalistic, Bluetooth ready, easily-installed head unit. This is a no frills media player with a faux slot for a CD. Certainly it's a bit more expensive than other head units with the same capability, but it offers a period correct finish which matches the tombstone of an NA Miata very nicely. Nothing flashy about this media player. Connecting Bluetooth is easy without needing to read the directions (but they can help). The interface for changing settings is a tad wonky, but once you've learned it, it's a simple process. The Madrid does NOT come with the harness for the head unit, but it's a simple purchase of an 8+8 Universal ISO harness (roughly $8).
