A wooden flag is attached to two old concrete silos missing their domed roofs. I made a U-turn in someone's driveway after whizzing by this cornfield. The concrete stave silos, used to store grain and feed, are missing their galvanized steel domed caps, so these old silos have no current job other than hold up Old Glory, a painted plywood sign. The silo to the left once had white paint, much of which has weathered off, leaving the taupe-colored concrete black showing through. Virginia Creeper vine climbs up the outer side of the silo, with its flame red Autumn coloring. The silo to the right does not appear to have been painted, as it is a weathered concrete color. The wooden flag is missing some plywood pieces, which expose the wooden frame to which the plywood had been affixed. The bright red and navy blue paints retain their color, but the white paint has weathered enough to show the knots in the plywood. The silos site atr the edge of a field of dried corn stalks with tassel sprays and curling beige and russet leaves. A green bush grows next to the outer silo. Green grass edges the field and a white gravel drive. Behind the field is a steep hill covered in dark green trees, with one tree turning a golden orange with the cooler weather.
