We're just headed back home from vacation, and I now know what other's have meant by these popping up. It's not as bad as it sounds, tho. They don't actually pop out, just up a little. Enough for a finger to fit under the ledge, and is just as easily pushed back in. I wish it didn't do this, but it's nothing I can't live with, seeing as how my husband, and I use these holders everytime we're in the car. I just wanted to update my review now that I have experienced this, and to let you know that for mine, it's not been an extreme popping out. When we bought our 2016 Kia Sorento last December, I realized after purchasing that the door handle was not inclosed like our previous car.
