PILOT G2 Premium Retractable Rolling Ball Black Gel Pens, .38mm, 12-Pack

Absolutely love these pens! I used to primarily stick to the .5mm tips, but I've found that even those after extended writing can tend to smear or bleed out a little too much for my liking. These .38 are fine point and leave just the right amount of ink on the page for smooth writing experience and no bleed. They are solid, comfortable to hold, and the black ink is easy to read. The pens are a bolder grip so more comfortable for larger hands, and the rubber soft grip gives you good control. It's not hard to understand why I have found pilot G2s in the majority of professional offices that I have worked at, and these .38 are just the style I need to do quality work and enjoy the writing experience.

Writes very smoothly and feels comfortable to use. The ink flows consistently and dries quickly without smudging. It’s a reliable pen for everyday writing, work, or school. I’m very satisfied with it.

I LOVE these pens. They're the only ones I want to write with. They are perfect for using in my planner because they write so thin, but dark! I can write tiny and still read it all! They don't bleed through the page or make gloops. They last a long time, if I can keep them away from other people - lol I've tried the Pilot Juice version in the same .38 size, but they're much more scratchy as they write. It creates resistance and actually makes writing seem like it's more effort - weird, but true. The G-2's are so smooth - I write as much as I want. Oh, I love them for writing on page divider tabs - I can legibly fit so much on the tab! Pilot makes a variety pack with black, blue, red, and green in 0.38 size - but the larger size 0.7 has lots of colors available. I wish there were more available in the 0.38 size. You can also buy refills for the pens, but they are often more expensive than purchasing the multipacks. With how these pens disappear after I let people borrow them, I need the multipacks!

These pens are amazing. They've become my go-to daily pen for everything, and I write a lot. I love the tiny point tip, especially for writing in small spaces like planners and making tiny side notes. Even my crazy scrawling handwriting looks better with these because you can see so much detail in the pen stroke since there's really no bleeding/spread. It dries really quickly so if I need to highlight something I just wrote I only have to wait a fraction of the time I have to for other pens. They last a fairly long time given how much I write and you can get replacement inserts as well (though I usually just get a new box of the pens since they're pretty inexpensive). Most importantly, they feel good to write with. You don't have to press hard like with ballpoints and it's not scratchy like a lot of other fine tip pens. My hand doesn't hurt after writing a long time. I have tried sooo many pens and there are some "fancy" pens I still like to write nice notes with but for a quality everyday pen, this is the one.

Many people are familiar with the Pilot G2 line. These are ultra fine point (0.38mm). They rarely feel scratchy (a common issue if you go much narrower) and let you cram a little more writing into a small space. I am a physician and use them to write notes, to-dos, labs, vitals, and so forth on patient lists. I use the black pens all day, then switch to red for days-end notes to distinguish it from information recorded earlier in the day (e.g. AM vs PM vitals, AM vs PM I/Os, new imaging results, and so forth). I originally used a bog-standard ballpoint pen (like BIC Crystal) but found the lines much too wide given the restricted space in each patient line. These do the trick nicely. They write consistently and evenly, and the ink dries pretty much instantly. I've never encountered smearing or bleeding of the ink (unless it gets wet — see below). In short, the red G2 0.38mm is my go-to closer pen. Only cons: -Odd tendency to stop writing if they're dropped at all when ink level is at ~1/5 or lower mark. This has happened to me multiple times, and I've never been able to get the pen to recover. I just move on to the next one in the box. -The ink is a gel and does bleed if you get it wet. This happens to me not infrequently because I have to use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting patient rooms. Any gel that falls onto the writing = smearing and bleeding. -Rare scratchiness. -There are cheaper pens out there, if you don't need the ultra-fine point. Those are pretty minor issues. Still highly recommended and will buy again once my current stock runs out.

These pens are great and I really enjoy the consistency of the ink. I also really like the ultra fine point on the pen. It can be a bit different if you are used to a .5 or .7mm pen but I adjusted to it and really like having the extra fineness in my lines. Out of the box of 12 I have only had 1 become unusable and I use these things all the time at work and at home. I would say that is a decent failure rate for these pens. My one major gripe with these pens is that ink will build up on the tip after drawing longer lines. It isn't as noticeable if you are using this pen for signing documents or other standard office tasks. But, if you are looking to use this for art or something else involving longer lines it could get frustrating how quickly these pens build up ink. Also the ink stays wet and will smudge for a decent time. Typically 10-15 seconds is needed before things are safe to touch. Even then, I try to take care not to touch if for a good minute sometimes. Pros: *Very crisp fine line *Ink is great *ergonomic Cons: *Ink will build up on the tip quite regularly (-1/2 star) *Ink will smudge for the first 10 or so seconds on the paper (-1/4 star) Additional Considerations: If you want a thicker line this pen may not be for you. Also, the pen can be aggressively "scratchy" on the paper. For standard paper this isn't a big deal but some softer artistic paper may not mesh well with this pen. I adore these pens for work. They write so crisply, with such precise lines, no smearing, no smudging. They're comfortable in the hand and the ink lasts a good long while. And they're affordable. My workplace provides other pens, but I buy these and bring them in, because they're that much better and it's worth it to have a pen I can trust to always work beautifully when I need it to!
