It is just 3G but I haven't really noticed much difference from my previous 4G phone, which was an ATT Go phone, plus it didn't have all the annoying pre-loaded ATT apps taking up space which I couldn't remove. There are no cards in the phone, so you do have to purchase them separately. I purchased the necessary card from ATT for about $50 because I was in a hurry but got a 32 GB microSD +USB +SD adaptor for $15 at Walmart (it would have been another $50 at ATT), so altogether, not a cheap phone except when compared to an new I-phone or comparable Android. It does everything I need though and it's fast, connectivity is good, camera is better than the Go-phone. I gave 4 stars because even though I'm a granny, I text a lot and I'm not thrilled with the keyboard...a bit small and way more mistakes than my old phone. Overall though, not bad at all. I'm very pleased so far. August 2016. UPDATE. O.K., so, I've had this phone since May, 4 months, and initially gave it a good review. Since then my opinion has changed quite a bit. Although I still don't have any problems talking and texting, all kinds of annoying problems have come up now that it's no longer eligible for return. It doesn't recognize my SIM card for one. The battery life has decreased remarkably, the time has to be reset to the correct zone at least twice a day, portions of messages and Facebook quotes end up in the Memo notes for some reason and in general it's a royal pain.
