There is a string in the middle that you are supposed to wrap behind you to keep the cover wrapped around you. I found the string to be more of a pain then helpful. When I have a hungry, screaming baby taking the time to get this over my head, arms and back may not seem like much time but to a baby is way too long! I ended up cutting the string off to make it easier for me to wear.
