One, the factory paint job on my van and the other, polished stainless steel. Just a wipe with a cloth and a ring of glue around the open hole. I placed the steel piece on the glue, then went inside a store and worked for 3 hours.I came out, half-worried that it had slide off-kilter or worse, maybe someone got curious and snagged it, but it was still there, so I drove for 90 minutes to my home, parked for the weekend, and it’s been on there ever since. It’s been through 4 or 5 of the same car washes that removed my factory “mounted” antenna and spurred this entire experience.Since then, I’ve mounted a smooth, unprepped metal lock box on a cinder block wall, using the glue to also fill in the pre-drilled mounting holes on the back of the lock box, effectively waterproofing it. It’s been working great for almost a year in Oregon’s rainy Willamette Valley.Another useful discovery is that it works super well to glue things like a Bluetooth radio adapter, little clay trinkets my daughter makes me, and a power adapter plug that always becomes disengaged, to my dashboard. The glue holds for as long as I leave it alone, but if I simply put a little effort into it, I can remove whatever is glued to my dash AND the glue comes with it. No residue on my dash.
