Nice and compact and works well for both Mac and PC. Just have to download the drivers from IOGear, and if you're trying to use this with a DoD CAC (at least; not sure about any others) on a Mac, you'll have to make sure to not use the latest firmware (instructions are easily found on the Internet). Worked great with Mountain Lion, but just having some issues getting Mavericks to behave (an OS X config problem, not this reader).

This works for DOS smart card. You will just have to remember to choose the "Correct" certificate to sign in. As for durability, it is just cheap plastic, but looks sturdy enough. Only time will tell how well this wears on, including the reader sensor. What I like most about this is the compact size, it even has cable management built in.

This unit works really well, is very small and lightweight, and convenient to install and use. Reads my smart ID card and allows me to authenticate through an extremely secure VPN.
