Stage Makeup: The Actor's Complete Guide to Today's Techniques and Materials

Don't get my wrong, I love a classic, and Corson's Stage Makeup text is a classic of theatrical makeup and really should belong in the library of anyone who is really serious about stage makeup techniques. Thudium, however, has produced a wonderful text that is super accessible to students, has tons of color photos, lots of great makeup looks, and is a fraction of the price of the Corson text. For students who are maybe taking a makeup class to see if they are interested in the field or as an elective can get a great introduction to the art of stage makeup without buying an exhaustive and expensive volume like the Corson. The images are really detailed, large and gorgeous. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to know more about a wide variety of theatrical makeup techniques.

This book is a classic for beginner/intermediate makeup artists. It has lots of color pictures, illustrations, and guides that make it an easy read and will help develop your skill of applying makeup for the stage!

There is nothing better than this book. I am using it with teens, who are not big readers and they like all the photos and examples. There are great starting instructions. The book covers many styles of makeup.

The recipient of this book was quite happy and will be able to use it in her craft. The step by step process is very useful. Some of the products used for stage make up may not be as current, since the book was published in the 70's. There are many new products in the market that should be included in the next publication. For the amount I paid for, this book is a great resource.

I'm a high school drama teacher. This book has great, close-up pictures and easy to understand step-by-step instructions. My students refer to it quite a lot in the Theatrical Makeup class that I teach as well as when they are working on makeup crew for productions.

Reasonably current and up-to-date when discussing materials and makeup suppliers. Easy to follow directions. This is actually a text book for teaching theatrical stage makeup.

I bought this book as a christmas present for my grandaughter who does makeup for productions. I have looked throught and realise how comprehensive and helpful it will be for her. The book description was true and lives up to expectations. Good illustrations and step by step help. I will use some of the ideas in my own art work so has crossed over to sculpture too. Good for mask making and decorative faces.

Das Buch ist in Englisch, aber das sollte ja das kleinste Problem sein. Auch hier wird von Grund auf alles erklärt was man schon in der Ausbildung gelernt hat, aber ich finde immer wieder Passagen die mir was neues bieten. Für totale Anfänger nicht gerade empfehlenswert, aber wer schon in der Materie arbeitet kommt hier schnell zurecht. Ich bereue den Kauf nicht.

Bought for granddaughter as she is into all things theatre I bought it along with some stage & effects make up. She has enjoyed learning about the techniques. The book is very clear great photos & explanations a brilliant book

I bought this as a present for a teenage girl who is mad about the theatre and makeup and she was thrilled with it as she also got her first stage make up set. Be prepared to be practised on if you buy it for your own child! However, it is a grown up book and would be very good for theatre companies to use.
