The Little Shredder That Can - UNLESS It Is Shredding a Credit Card or CD
De-junkifying the home after 23 years of living here. Along the way, collected and retained A LOT of personal paperwork. When shredding was [finally] completed, there were four (4) full, large Hefty type trash bags filled. This little shredder never quit and still runs and did not overheat too often (I was shredding 1-3 pages at a time. Also - try as I might, this shredder WOULD NOT shred old credit cards nor CDs. NOTE: shredding that much WILL require lubrication.

Great Shredder - Quiet too!
I like this shredder a lot! It is very quiet and shreds quickly. One thing I don't like is the actual shredder that fits over the bin is very heavy. Having arthritis in my hands makes this difficult. I do like the shredder though, so will continue to use it, but will buy the model that has the bin that slides out, so I won't have to lift it. Do recommend this one and like the Fellowes brand.

Workhorse Shredder for Home Office
This shredder is more durable and robust than the one we had previously, which I apparently killed off prematurely by not keeping it oiled. I used to pay our teen grandson to do my shredding, thus I didn't pay attention to the mechanics of the machine. Turns out that you're supposed to oil the cutting mechanism frequently with usage. Since my helper is now grown up and away at college, I have to do my own shredding. Once the old shredder seized up and died, I did research and picked this model as a replacement. It's much quieter and can run longer than the previous one. I use oil as directed, and it's been running smoothly. Not overdoing the running time is probably wise for longevity, too. The reason for four stars instead of five is that it's awkward to take the collector bin and empty it into a bag for recycling disposal. The first bin load is easy to manage, but as the waste bag fills up, I was struggling not to end up with lots of extra shreds falling on the floor instead of the bag. That's because the bin is fairly large and heavier than with a smaller shredder. Something to consider - you have to be prepared to manage the shredded paper while needing more than two hands, unless you're young and strong.

Deign Problems Outweigh Shredder Functions
Although the shredder works very well, design issues warrant skipping over buying this one. First, you cannot simply pull the shredder basket out to empty it. You have to manually lift off the motor unit that sits atop the basket and place it aside, then empty the basket. This has to be done a lot because the shredding is fluffy and can jam the shredder gears if the shredding level is too high. Alternatively, you can try pressing down the shredding or (without removing the the motor unit) shaking the basket to lower the shredding level before emptying. Second, although the shredder basket has a plastic front so you can observe the shredding level, the plastic window is tinted NOT clear making it very difficult to judge the shredding level (which is further complicated by the paper dust that accumulates on the inside of the plastic window). Obviously, some rocket scientist designer thought it was better that the plastic window match the dark exterior of the unit rather than making it clear so that the user can better see the shredding level inside. Third, the shredder basket is difficult to empty into a trash bag. The are no notches or other means to grip and easily dump the shredding. The sides are smooth and slippery. Moreover, the plastic window at the top front of the shredder basket is slanted inward and therefore catches/interferes with emptying the shredding. Fourth, after using it for a few weeks, you will encounter another nuisance -- the power cord will twist and tangle from having to constantly remove the motor unit to empty the shredder basket. So you will need to unplug the motor unit and untwist/straighten out the cord. The cord needed to be designed to swivel. Look elsewhere for a more user friendly product.

Works well. Low maintenance.
Great shredder. It’s quick and it handles several sheets. Kinda loud but what would you expect of something that eats paper.

Excellent Shredder too have.
I find it great for me, easy to empty, and it works well! But the motor gets too hot, the red light turns on, and the shredder stops until it cools down

Works well and fairly quiet
I bought it as an open box and was worried when it came because the box was torn up and taped but it works fine. It has a nice safety feature that turns off the motor if your fingers or anything touches the chrome slot around the opening. Feeds easily and has yet to stop or clog up. I didn't put the wheels on it because it sits on carpet, and I don't move it.

The shedder is too slow and not powerful enough. Not designed for a small business
