Yes it can. I have a Verizon router too and turned it off so as not to interfere with the Google WiFi mesh (you don't want to have two networks/NATs). I don't recommend these as they are not working properly for me after having them for a year and don't seem to be supported properly by Google as they are sending updates that work with their newer Nest Wifi. Best to use ero 6.

Yes. Google Wifi needs to be connected directly to your modem with the Ethernet cable to set it up and broadcast your Wi-Fi network. Once its all set and working, you can add your Wifi points wirelessly. But where they are placed, the layout of your house, and physical obstructions like furniture can impact the total coverage. You can. I have the 3 unit set and then added one more. Pretty easy to do.
