can i use this to measure screws? i mixed up a bunch of screws in a bag and have no idea what size is which.

Yes, however you might benefit by using a thread checker instead. It is difficult to determine thread pitch using calipers. Thread checkers work when you thread a screw into the checker or a nut onto it. This has the advantage of sorting the 8mm screws and nuts from the 5/16" screws and nuts. It also allows you to determine if a screw or nut is a #12 SAE as opposed to a 1/4" SAE screw or nut.

Renewed faith

The materiality is great, it looks and feels like a quality item however I have owned it for approximately 6 months and in that time I've used it perhaps a dozen times. It is stored indoors in a steel work bench inside of its hard carry case. Now the digital display is glitching and does not maintain a reading. Edit: turns out a battery replacement solved the issue
