Would this work on stapling two pieces of cardboard, of average thickness

Yes. Just tried it and it worked good. At the front of the mouth it is 3/8 of an inch gap and at the back about 1/2 inch. From staple to back of mouth is about 2 and 1/4 inch. Ray.

Does anyone know of any stainless steel staples that will work with this stapler?

K. Wofford is wrong. The T50 is for staple guns. Size will not fit. Only 26 gauge stainless staple US seller I can find online is here https://www.stapleheadquarters.com/Standard_Staples You can try 12mm stainless staples from Chinese sellers on Ebay. They should fit 26/6 staplers. I havn't tried.

Does this use p22 Staples?

I use premium speed point staples , as far as I know they are the standard size .

Will 3/8" staples work?

No. This stapler uses 1/4" leg standard staples (such as Rapid #73782 or #90007), and 5/16" leg staples (such as Rapid #90003.) For a plier stapler that uses 3/8" let staples, you should purchase Rapid No. HD31 Heavy Duty Plier Stapler (Amazon #B001QJC1PG) and Rapid #73/10 3/8" leg staples (Amazon #B0036TIMBQ).

I used this stapler to bind the edges of a carpet remnant to make a few area rugs. It worked perfectly. It didn’t jam, held a decent amount of staples, was easy to load, and didn’t take too much effort to squeeze. My hand did not cramp which was awesome considering how many staples I used. Great product and a great value.
