They are light, well ventilated and seem to offer good protection for the legs. The only problem, and it probably only relates to the pair I got, was that there are 4 pairs of press-studs on the waist band which seem to be for shortening the garment. You simply fold the waistband down which effectively shortens things by almost 2 inches. On my pair one of the press studs was broken.
