It does what you would expect it to do. I've had this product for a couple of years and still working properly.

OK for entry-level roasting
I made espresso, medium and French roast on my first day. I used 250 grams for each batch. I tried 375 grams for a batch intended for espresso, however, after 35 to 40 minutes I started cooling, however it was not at espresso or Italian roast level. I di have succes with ac250 gram batch of espresso. A brown bit stuck to the base, and a bit of Teflon came off with it. At the ends of the rotating bar, a single coffee bean gets stuck at both ends of the bar between the bar and the sides of the roaster. As the beans roast, they expand and this causes the bar to reverse direction in an attempt to clear the obstruction (good feature). Unfortunately towards the end of the roast, it shuts off when the bean expands enough to jam it. It is difficult to remove at this point. The coffe I made from Guatemala beans came out very good. My first time roasting coffee, the aroma was not as expected (didn't smell like coffee) until an hour after roasting. Overall, I'm happy with the unit, but I would not leave unattended during roasting.

Actually an improvement over other models.
I am a small Kona coffee grower and I roast about 100 pounds a year. That's enough for our consumption and some for gifts to friends. That amount is also too small for you "big" roasters, which are quite costly. I have been using these types of roasters, from various manufacturers for a couple of years now. I usually get about 50 pounds out of one before either the rotating/reversing mixer arm breaks or the heating element dies. The differences between this models and others do make a difference. The heating/mixing pan is straight sided, which gives you more surface area for the same amount of beans. This seems to better distribute the heat, makes for shallower depth of the beans, and more consistent heating. Another difference is the stirring arms. These are straight instead of curved, more sturdy, and there is no "tip bar" for when beans get too high. Curved arms will pile beans up, where this straight does not seem to do so. The arms also rotate at a slower speed which seems to extend contact with the heating surface and better creates consistent roast. It will be some time before I can see how long the heating element lasts, but given the lower price point for this unit, if it last 50 pounds worth like the others, it is a good deal.

Works well.
I’ve roasted in cast iron pan, a drum inside a rotisserie machine and a ceramic Nuvo stove top toaster. The Nuvo is the best for small batches, but this roaster is best for larger batches. I find I can get a very consistent roast with 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound by using the same roasting profile over and over. It does take a little longer than the frying pan, but you don’t have to stand there stirring constantly. Also, the smoke and chaff is much more manageable. All in all, a cost effective way to roast coffee at home. My favorite profile: 450 grams Temp 240 c. Preheat 3 minutes Sweep in @ 7 & 15 Time 23 minutes I sweep in the beans from the outside edge a couple of time, which enables a much more consistent roasting color. Otherwise the outside beans end up lighter.

Crap won’t spin only used 3 times!!!!!
Can’t even get product support!!!! The thing broke after only the 3rd time used ! Do NOT PURCHASE because it’s a waste of money and you can’t even get anyone to help you resolve the issue!!!! The support video is for a coffee brewer haha what a joke!!! BUT We did find the issue…. the ceramic part that spins the arm is already broken after only the third use!! Does anyone know where we could get a replacement part since we can’t even get in contact with the company ???

Awesome First Timer
My first time roasting coffee and this made it as easy as possible. I roasted about a 1/2 lb with it. Basically no setup required and cleanup was a breeze. I’d highly recommend it.

Lasted less than 2 years
This cooker worked fine but at just under 2 years, the gears are not turning the wand (might be stripped) and because the gear is under the plate it's not accessible. And the knob on the lid broke. All this happened at the same time. 3 stars for the fact it did what it was supposed to; we roast beans weekly. But like most Chinese products, the most you'll get out of it is maybe two years of constant use. These products need to be made better. Especially for eighty-five bucks.
