Whether you are big or small, male or female, young or old, you can use Krav Maga to protect yourself by exploiting an assailant’s vulnerabilities. “Darren Levine has my unqualified support and gratitude for his contributions to Krav Maga.” –Imi Lichtenfeld, founder of Krav Maga Review: A fantastic reference book! - This is a fantastic resource for Krav Maga students. I started studying Krav Maga and Kali about 4 months ago and I purchased this to help me review the Krav Maga techniques I learned in class. It's a phenomenal book; it's very well organized and the pictures, although black and white, are clear and capture the right "moment" when demonstrating a technique. (Having also studied Karate, Aikido, and Judo, I've read a bunch of other books of this type and it always annoys me when the pictures fail to capture the essence of a technique, but luckily that's not the case here). The techniques in the book are organized according to belt or level - I'm probably too new to appreciate it - but I'm sure this would be very helpful to others. The writing is exceptionally clear and to the point. There is a brief introduction but otherwise this gets right into the content. Overall, I think this will be a great resource for me, a worthwhile addition to my library, and I am totally happy with my purchase. I completely recommend this book to you and I hope you find this review helpful. Good luck training! Review: Very helpful - Helps me in preparing for future belts.

Very thorough book, and I especially like the spiral binding
Very thorough book, clear and well-written. The spiral binding makes it easy to lay flat when open.

Really Good Technique Book
First of all, let me say that this is a five star book. The reason this review gives it four stars is because the second edition did not add much new content from the first, and it all contained in another of Levine's books, which is titled something along the lines of 'Black Belt Krav Maga Techniques'. Regardless, this is an amazing reference book for Krav Maga. The photos capture the essence of each technique, and the written descriptions are clear, concise, and informative. The book is organized by belt level, then further divided by situation, so navigating to where you want to get to is easy. The index is also appreciated, since this book really does contain a lot of techniques(250+). Obviously, you will get more out of this is you have a professional teacher, but this is a great book for someone interested, getting started, or is experienced in Krav Maga.

) and I am really happy I had it
Kickin ass and taking names! Okay, so confession time, I've wanted to do Krav Maga for a long time but was a little too intimidated to go into a class without any prior knowledge. I got this as a little pre-birthday gift (because for my birthday I was finally going to get myself Krav Maga classes! Eep!) and I am really happy I had it. I'm a bit of a studier. I like to know about things before they happen; I like to do research. And this was really cool research! The pictures really helped and the descriptions were accessible and fun. I wasn't lost at any point. It was a total coup. A great guide and a great read. I learned so much and feel ready for class number 1!

Krav Maga Instructor 7yrs
I'm writing this as a Krav Maga teacher. This is an excellent companion, and truly does go over the basics to advance wit hwell detailed pictures, but to truly learn you must attend a class to get a true sense on how to apply and perform these moves in a volatile and stress inducing situation. I'm not going to say it's impossible to self teach yourself with this book (that'd be pigheaded) But I will deduce that is a very small percent of the population. The book is great none the less full of correct techniques and good insight. If your thinking of getting it as a classroom companion or just a combat (not martial art) read then it is a must get.

Stop Reading at Brown Belt
The ethos of Krav Maga in the first couple of chapters is spot on. I agree with most techniques until Brown Belt with exception of the jump, spinning and high kicks. My opinion is a low kick to the groin, directly into the knee cap, to the side or back of the knee are the only safe, efficient destructive kicks to attempt. Having been stabbed in 2 of 3 REAL knife attacks, knife “disarming” techniques are for John Wick movies. While I think this book is definitely worth having, I would also chose the MCMAP manual (I was a recurring guest instructor at MCRD), and best of all, Kelley McCann’s “Combatives.” Also Rory Miller’s “Meditations on Violence.”
