Review: Excellent tank topper! - This is the only 5-star review I've ever written for something I unfortunately wasn't able to keep and had to return. I had to buy a new tank for my turtle when his old one sprung a leak and my attempts to reseal it weren't successful. I had to go to a different-shaped tank and wound up with a 36x18. Since it was shorter than our previous one, I was afraid our cat just might be brave (or stupid) enough to try to jump in the tank, so I wanted a cover to keep him from falling in should he try. This cover is just fantastic!! It's super sturdy, sturdy enough I'm sure if our cat landed on it, he wouldn't fall in. It is extremely well made with a perfect size mesh pattern, not too large to allow in little flying insects and not too small to allow in light, heat and UVA/UVB light from his lamps. And it looks great to boot and fits securely on the tank. The reason I can't keep it is because I have light fixtures that attach to the tank sides in such a way that don't allow for a tank cover. After ordering this, I thought I'd be able to find new light fixtures that would allow me to use the cover, but I couldn't find anything that would work with my setup (and that didn't say they catch fire). So the only solution was to keep the lights, ditch the cover and move the tank far enough away from where the cat could reach. I so wish I could have kept this cover, but if, unlike mine, it will work for your setup, I couldn't recommend it more.

A: The one I received was 18.75 inches deep and protruded out the front of my 40 breeder.

A: Yes, 100%. It’s how I house mine.

**Q: Is the screen soft mesh or metal? Can you rip through the screen?**
A: Its a metal screen that would be extremely difficult to rip through without seriously trying with a sharp blade.

**Q: i want to use this for aquarium, can the frame be cut to allow for pump and accessory access?**
A: Yes, cutting the frame or just the metal mesh on top would be fine since the cover fits snug and the metal mesh all around would keep its integrity.

This is the only 5-star review I've ever written for something I unfortunately wasn't able to keep and had to return. I had to buy a new tank for my turtle when his old one sprung a leak and my attempts to reseal it weren't successful. I had to go to a different-shaped tank and wound up with a 36x18. Since it was shorter than our previous one, I was afraid our cat just might be brave (or stupid) enough to try to jump in the tank, so I wanted a cover to keep him from falling in should he try. This fits an Aqueon 40 gallon breeder aquarium perfectly. We are using it for a baby ball python. We will eventually get some lid locks when the snake gets bigger, so it can’t push the lid up and escape.
