HDM Z1 PowerShell Portable Integrated Power Source for CPAP (Machine Not Included)

I bought the Z1 a year ago from Cpap.com. I also bought the lighter adapter, stupidly thinking that I could power the unit using that adapter from any 12v DC source. The machine is over $500, which was fine, I thought, at the time. Just know that you'll have to spend another $500 for the power shell or you cannot power this unit off AC power. That feels like a scam to me. I paid $29 for a lighter adapter that won't power the unit unless I spend another $500. I am not aware of any work around that would allow me to not get raped by these guys so I'm probably going to buy a Resmed unit that has a compatible and simple DC adapter. Then I can have what the Z1 claims to offer. I truly useful travel Cpap machine. 15vDC power? I get it. Greed and deception are not sustainable business phylosphies.

I have had a Z1 cpap for about 3 years and I really like traveling with it .It's small and compact enough I can carry it in my backpack aboard the plane or I can use it on a train as I travel. I have been thinking of getting a battery pack for it for when I backpack camp in the woods as this would make my stay more comfortable. I have used the heat moisture recoveree unit for most of the time I have used this devise and had no problem with it. The only downside to this devise is if you are transiting from a regular cpap devise with a water tank as it takes a while to adjust to the auto mode.
