New KS2 Maths Targeted Study Book - Year 6 (CGP KS2 Maths) : Au CGP Books: desertcart.in: Books Review: Very good book with standard topics and easy to understand method of answering the questions. I recommend this brand to every school and home educators. Review: The book came on time (delivered by desertcart - thanks desertcart). The content of the book is very well written - aimed at Primary school children aged 9-11, depending upon ability of course around class 4,5 or 6, though younger and older children may find it useful depending on personal ability. If you have a child who is particularly confident with their maths, and already wanting to do more, then this book will be a great way to explain new concepts and work through different topics. This is also great if you feel your child needs more stimulation, than the current homework or class content is providing, as it doesnt really feel like homework when you are reading through it. It's best done with parents of course, who can then hopefully go on to expand and talk about the different methods used, including the good old "oh right, they want you to do it this way....welll.....in MY day, we did it this way....etc" This is also invaluable, if you are finding that your school is asking your child to "know" things that they haven't necessarily gone through yet in class, or if your child is in a mixed group of two years (eg year 5 and 6 together), as it will allow them to keep up with the older children, and possibly surpass them. It will help build your childs confidence, so when it eventually does appear in class, they can think to themsaelves "oh, ive done this already, i know this". The increase in confidence from previous practice will allow your child to perform better in any tests based on this information also. I'd recommend this book to any parent who: 1) wants their child to feel more confident with their maths in school, and as a result of that confidence, to get better results, and to be able to do the questions more quickly, allowing more time for checking, and rechecking of answers. 2) Wants their child to keep up with the expected knowledge base of maths at their school, especially if they are in a mixed class, as sometimes your child may be tested on things they've not even seen in class yet. This will allow them to keep up.
