Fudenosuke Brush Pen - Hard Type & Soft Type Earh 3 Pens Total 6 Pens Arts Value set.

I guess these pens are marketed for Japanese school children to practice writing kanji, but I love them for inking comics- I bought one in a random store and I used it up in a month because it was just so GOOD. The price is amazing- I would avoid sellers that mark them up beyond a few dollars per pen. This set was a very reasonable price. If you're not a professional artist, and want to take line-art to a higher level, these pens are exactly what you need. They make my shoddy drawings much better! I love how intricately thin they can be, and suddenly become thick just with the right pressure. Brush pen lines are very forgiving ;) I have not used every brush-type pen on the market, but I do have a few to compare. There is also the BIG Tombow, but since I don't use a very large canvas, I don't feel like I utilize that size very well. I also really like the Faber Castell in SB (soft brush), but they do not sell it in value packs (It came in a variety pack of other pens that I don't use as much) AND that is slightly more expensive. I also own a Copic Multiliner SP set: the BS pen is gorgeous-BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and I bought it overseas. On the plus side, the Copics are refillable, but thinking how much I spent on them makes me SHAKE when I ink with them!! So all in all, I am a big fan of these pens. The difference between hard and soft is not really as dramatic as I expected, so it's not a waste to get a set with both. Since the price is good, you can feel good sharing them with artsy friends, or young artists as well. They would probably make fine gifts as well (since the pen label is all in Japanese, maybe you can impress someone??) The only negatives I can think of would be that brush-type pens can dry out quickly, so I prefer to save them for art-type things and not just notes like grocery lists or homework.

Great for drawing

I love these pens, the soft tip more than the hard tip. This was such a good value that I couldn't pass up getting three of each - I gave one of each to my sister-in-law and have the others for back-up. The soft tip pen is very user friendly and allows for good control and consistency of writing. I don't have an issue with ink pooling or bleeding on the paper as I have with other brands. The hard tip pen isn't quite as hard as a different well-known brand, so I cannot get the same hairline stroke as that pen, but it's still a very decent pen and hard to go wrong with having this pen in your collection. I tend to work small (I also have Tombow's Dual Brush Pen markers) and prefer these pens over the dual brush pens. I wish these smaller ones came in a variety of colors - I think that's my only complaint.

This is definitely a value set compared to the other options available on Amazon. I'm pretty sure these are authentic, but this is my first time purchasing/using these pens. Each came in their own packaging, and are functional. I purchased them for the purpose of practicing hand lettering. I am very much a beginner, but these pens made me feel like I have way more experience and control over what I'm doing. I have followed a lot of artists doing hand lettering, and it seems that practicing on Vellum helps, and also helps save the quality of the pen nibs. I haven't tried that yet, but after trying them on mixed media and watercolor papers, I can say the nib drags and catches slightly. The soft nib works well for larger flowing lettering, while the hard nib is good for smaller/tighter lettering. The hard nib seems to dry out a little faster, so I tend to letter a little slower to keep the flow of ink. I can see how these pens would do well for inking drawings, but only after any water-based coloring has been done.

For the last year and a half, I have been doing my best to get into Bullet Journaling. It's been a very good help to get me motivated as a diagnosed depressive + BP II. I have also been practicing my hand writing / brush calligraphy. Unfortunately, practicing your brush/modern calligraphy when you DON'T have ...brush pens...is difficult xD. I was using crayola markers and very, very cheap brush pens that leaked THROUGH my bullet journal paper. Last Christmas (Dec. 2017) my mother-in-law, bless her face, gave me the gift of money to spend on what I wanted. I debated getting a single large, or pack, of tombow brush/dual brush pens...But then did a little re-reading and saw that a lot of modern / calligraphy practicers recommend these brushes for beginners. I ALSO saw that there were six in this pack. So I decided to nab it to practice with. I am *so* glad I did! Pros: - Three large, soft brushes for large calligraphy art or writing your favorite quotes in your BuJo (Black) - Three small, stiffer tips for writing smaller calligraphy or very nice printing. - Smooth as a baby's....cheek (Note: on the RIGHT paper) for writing. Unlike my cheaper knock off brush pens, I did NOT need to use a lot of pressure to use these. - Good size for me and my hands. Not TOO thick (I can't seem to write as well with a big ol barrelled pen) and not so thin as to be difficult to keep from flinging out of your hand into space. - Over two months of use (on GOOD paper) and NO TIP fraying! YAAAY! (My cheaper brushes frayed within a week.) - NO bleed through my bullet journal pages / no ghosting! (Ghosting is basically when you flip the page over, and sometimes you can clearly see the ink has stained through or it is very easy to see what you wrote on the other side. - The price. These are a great deal if you are broke a.f. like me. CONS: - They are NOT meant to be used on your everyday lines notebook paper / thin and cheap printer paper. I can actually FEEL the tip SCRAPING and scratching when I tested it on a cheaper piece of paper. Not only did that set my teeth on edge (lol, forks on chalkboards anyone?) I immediately stopped, knowing that if I used these on common paper that the paper would shred these quickly. - The shade of blue for the smaller, stiffer tips is so, so dark, that unless I am in bright light/day light, sometimes I can't tell which color I've grabbed and have to squint like an 80 year old while holding my glasses at that weird angle. - They took roughly two weeks to arrive. Which isn't really a con for ME, but for those of you spoiled happily by Prime and how somethings apparently arrive on your doorstep overnight; these will take a while. I really recommend these for beginners and experts alike! I have thoroughly enjoyed using them and practicing my hand writing has been a very soothing hobby!

Here's the low down. These are ok. I wanted to give less stars but they function I suppose as they are meant to. I like my Prismacolor illustrator brush pen much more though. This is a good deal for the money I will say. So if you want to give these a shot I recommend this pack for eight bucks. I don't know really which is soft and which is hard. One is purple and the other is black. I hear these dry out quickly so if you do like these then this is the pack for you. It's not a bad pen it's just not amazingly smooth like I thought it would be.

I like the feel of these brush pens. I'm not a calligrapher or artist, but I enjoy playing with writing nicely and drawing on occasion. The tips on these pens are easier to control for those occasional uses than softer pen tips. The line width variation falls into a nice range for me using 8.5" x 11" as well as some roughly similar sized sketch books. I would definitely recommend for exploring inking lines after sketching. The tips hold up well for me (with a fairly light hand.) Ink runs out before noticeable tip degradation. A dedicated professional might appreciate dipping a nice brush into ink. For playing around or serious exploring these pens are a great place to start and stay around for a while. They are juicy enough without bleeding through. The black is not as deep as a carbon ink but looks fine.

I'm a art material junkie and use as many different brands and techniques as I can and I can confidently say these brush pens are one of the best out there. Japanese ink and pens are always at the top of most people's list that use such things for art. These are high quality ink, a flexible, yet strong brush tip, and are a great value for the money. Micron brush pens tend to get fuzzy and flared over time and I've never had that issue with these. The ink is very black, a fairly neutral black unlike some companies that tend to be more warm base or cool base. If you do any lining or brush style effects you'll love these.

Recentemente mi sono appassionato di Calligrafia, e ho trovato nelle brush pen degli strumenti fantastici in tal senso. In particolare le Tombow Fudenosuke risultano essere straordinarie, d'altronde sono considerate dei veri e propri punti di riferimento nell'arte della scrittura. Ho già acquistato in passato, sempre parlando di Tombow Fudenosuke, la penna singola 'SOFT' (colore nero del fusto), e un set di penne colorate che sono tutte 'Hard' (colore blu del fusto). Questo set ha un grandissimo pregio, ovvero quello di poter acquistare, ad un costo conveniente, delle Fudenosuke sia hard che soft, ad un costo decisamente conveniente. La busta mi è arrivata da Kyoto (Giappone) in tempi molto rapidi, poco meno di un mese. All'interno, come da descrizione, 3 penne soft e altrettante hard. Assolutamente originali, ognuna nella sua confezione plastica trasparente con indicazioni varie in Giapponese. Ovviamente ne ho provate alcune allo scopo di redigere questa recensione, e posso testimoniare che sono perfette. Sicuramente in futuro ne acquisterò altre. A questo prezzo sono un vero affare.

I'm a beginner at brush calligraphy and was told there are a lot of knock offs out there so I brought these to someone who teaches brush lettering and said they feel and write like real TomBows! She also warned me these markers are meant for smooth surfaces; rough or textured surfaces "break" the "brush" down from its nice bundled tip and eventually you get streaking. However apparently this is just something we live with if we want to write on textures surfaces and she suggested I label my markers that I save only for smooth surfaces and those will last longer. So far I've had one pen start streaking and I've used it everyday on textured paper. The rest used on super smooth /shiny paper and are fine.

Best pens ever, very comfortable to write with. I prefer the soft type more, easy to use and nib is flexible. Very dark ink & it's become my favourite pen to write and draw with! Hope no one steals them. Luckily there are three of each. Value for money!!

Ich finde es echt schön, dass es das Angebot mit 3 soft + 3 hard gibt. So kann man sich ausprobieren, welche man lieber hat und für den Preis, sind die gut. Lassen sich gut benutzen und sind angegenehm im Schreiben. Und falls einer leer geht, hat man ja die restlichen zwei als Ersatz, je nachdem welche man dann verwendet.

Après avoir testé produits (1 des 3 soft et 1 des 3 hard), j'ai un problème avec le soft. Il semble à moitié sec, et fait des traces/traînées quand on fait des downstroke. C'est assez décevant, et j'espère que les 2 autres soft ne seront pas pareil. Sinon, en ce qui concerne les hard, rien a signaler.
