It takes a little work - I spend a couple minutes working it over my skin dry before adding a touch of water, then a bit more, then a bit more - but it works so well I don't mind the extra effort. I use it right before showering and follow up with my usual cleanser, and when I'm done and get out of the shower my skin is visibly smooth and clean, so smooth it's hard not to keep touching it. I've stopped using any other exfoliation entirely, and my skin doesn't feel stripped or sensitive after like other exfoliants I've tried. Also removes my mascara, which is so impossible to get off that I often don't bother removing it before going to bed, and without any pulling or rubbing.
