The strips don't work. I use this meter all the time and love it **Q: Which 'scale' on this Salt-3050 do you use to test the level of salt in a swimming pool? Meter has four scales.** A: Push the POWER button to turn the meter on, make sure the meter is on the 0.5 ppm mode. (Push and hold the MODE button to change the mode to 0.5 ppm if needed.) **Q: How do I know if this is working? My saltwater hot tub sample reads 2900 ppm, but my test strip reads 1500. Why would the readings be so different?** A: Test strips are really inaccurate. I suggest checking it at any pool store. To compare with what your panel is reading. Most salt chlorine generators only make chlorine when above 2700 and below 3700 so if your panel says its low and you think its above 2700 but no chlorine. Thats a good time to get it tested.
