For ATEQ, they have a bunch of TPMS which varies per car mfr/model. For my case, a honda element in particular, I need a TPMS activator just to activate/wake up the new sensor, I need another tool VT-30 to check if the new sensor is activated by reading the info transmitted by the activated sensor (no reading means sensor not activated/wake up) and a 3rd tool a ateq quickset to upload the new sensor ID to the car ECU. But for a honda crv (same mfr diff model), it seems my sensor does not need to be activated, i read the new crv sensor using vt-30 out of the box.

Larry this tool will not tell you if a sensor is bad. You can use the VT30 tool to scan the sensor and if it cannot register the sensor information, you will know the sensor is dead.
