Does it work on aftermarket radios now April 2020?

I used this on my 2008 BMW 528i in early January 2020. It worked.

So, basically this makes it easier to use the female most adapter because it is pre-trimmed?

Exactly! If you buy ANY other Female MOST adapter you will need to trim the heck out of it to get it to fit into the male adapter of the device you are trying to bypass in your car. It takes patience and it is easy to damage the unit if you are not very careful. This pre-trimmed adapter is ready to go out of the box, simply plug it in, zip tie it on and you are done.. No tedious trimming.

How it this secured to the male connector if the surrounding plastic has been trimmed?

In the envelope you will receive a few zip ties along with your pre-trimmed adapter. Simply use the zip tie to loop through both connectors and that's it! Simple. You can get a good look at how they are secured in this video: https://youtu.be/N7E4lTPgChg?t=146
