Most lumbar support pillows I’ve bought feel like leaning on bumpy rock. This actually cushions and I feel better when I stand up whether it’s hours or minutes. However, the strap that’s supposed to hold it in place needs adjustment every time I sit down. Now I just lift it into place when I sit down. Setup was a bit frustrating. The picture shows the cushion coming out from the side of the case. However, the zipper runs across the case in the middle. This means you have to bend and twist the cushion to get it in place. If Purple is reading this, move the zipper to the top or along the side as pictured it would change install and removal time from minutes to mere seconds. I still wouldn’t return it to go find another back cushion that’s as good as this AND has a more secure strap system. The quality is that great. This is so comfortable Im now looking into possibly buying their bed.

Bought this to put on my rowing seat. Figured out I needed a cushion after I developed constant numbness on my thigh. The cushion puts the support where I need it, and the cover that comes with it keeps it planted on the seat. Zero slipping. I was worried the cover might fray and tear, but it hasn't after 3 hours a week for 5 months. This thing is expensive, but being comfortable is priceless.

I gave this cushion 3 stars for the following reasons: Quality: Excellent quality Effectiveness for intended application: Poor for the following reasons: This back cushion is just too thick for most people. It pushes the lower spine into an exaggerated degree of lordosis (too far forward) and this degree of forward push of the lumbar spine has its own problems. I suggest that this company obtain consultation from a qualified neurosurgeon or orthopedist who actually does spine surgery for a ruling on this issue. I suspect the answer may be to offer the cushion in more than one thickness. I have been around the block with back issues and for my purposes, a cushion half this thick would be about right. Thus, the reason this item received stars because it does seem to have quality construction but the application effectiveness just doesn't make it. BTW, I do have other Purple products that have served me well.

This cushion is great for lumbar support; the gel structure is cooler and more resilient than a fiber-fill or memory-foam based product. I will likely buy another when I have extra income for other applications. I bought this with Purple's "Portable" cushion as their website suggests that cushion is good for tall people in small cars, though I didn't find that to be true. This back cushion however is a godsend for my Chevy Cobalt's poorly designed driver seat. Criticisms: My advice to purple: Please document what the loops on the back of the cover are for. There is no indication or documentation I could find that describes what to use them for or how to use them, although I found some generic text referencing a "handle" on this cover, which seems to be left over from another cushion. Logic tells me these loops are to secure the cushion to the seat with elastic bands or straps. While this was sold as "New" direct from Purple's Prime store, it did not come in a box like the Portable Cushion. This bothered me because I hadn't selected "no-hassle" shipping and the other cushion came with information about it. The cushion isn't affected by this shipping decision, but I would have appreciated a heads up. Receiving it without the packaging made it feel incomplete, especially when shipped next to the portable cushion. I felt like it was missing important information such as "Don't leave this in a 'superheated' car because it will deform if pressure is applied when heated above 105ºF" and perhaps straps to keep it in place on a seat-back.

Okay, well I bought this back cushion AND the super duper expensive seat cushion. I tried to review them separately but apparently they are just different versions of the same thing so Amazon is forcing me to combine their reviews. I REALLY wanted to like these. I like to spend time on my days off sitting at my pc and playing various games. All gaming chairs seem to think they need a seat pan that is hard as a sheet of plywood "to promote good posture". What if I don't care about my posture, darn it. Just give me a comfortable chair. Anyway, I digress. I have bought many seat cushions and have yet to find one that is big enough, soft enough, does not slide off or cause ME to slide out of the chair. Now none of them have been as expensive as these but I figured enough was enough. Time to pay for premium. Unfortunately what I got was just overpriced mediocre cushions. I have gotten same result from cushions that cost 1/4 this price. The back/lumbar pillow is just too heavy to sit properly. The single strap does not provide an adequate way to secure it to the chair. I feel like part of the blame is the style of chair I have so for the back pillow I would actually give it 2 maybe three stars. But regardless, it is NOT worth $80. Not even half that. I am sorry Purple, but this is true. Now for the seat cushion. Wow, when I first pull it out I am surprised by the sheer weight of this thing. I put it in the cover and set it on my chair. I go to sit down and nearly needed to call an ambulance because the chair shot out from underneath me causing me to have to catch myself from falling flat on my back. I am no spring chicken so this caused a little physical discomfort that will likely last a week or so before I recover. Here I go digressing again..... So, I grab the chair, slide it back to the desk, try to sit down slower this time while keeping a firm grip on the arms of the chair. Okay, the cushion is pretty thick, maybe I need to lower the chair a little. I lower the chair go to sit down again and nope. I feel like I am sitting on a cloud. You would think that is a good thing, right? Now imagine that cloud trying to buck you off, make you slide, shift, shimmy in all directions at once. I try to adjust and figure out how to get it to quit feeling like my chair is trying to run out from under me or give me one heck of a roller coaster experience. I finally get settled in a reasonable approximation of comfort and settle in for a couple of hours of dungeon crawling and doing my best to unalive every creature I encounter. Within ten minutes I have slid down in my chair to the point I feel like I am being folded in half and my lower back is absolutely on FIRE. Save your money and try something else. This just isn't it. I am sorry Purple. I love your commercials and the gimmick with the eggs. I resisted a long time trying your products and now wish I had kept resisting.

We've purchased two of these, one for the wife and I and one for our daughter to use at her firm. They're super comfortable and the mounting straps work very well. My only gripe is the pillows are really small. At least for me, but I'm slightly larger than the average bear, that being 6-7, 250. Yeah, big and ugly, that's me. I would recommend this product and I have no doubt you'll be pleased with your purpose. I've honestly found Purple products to be very trustworthy and their support, if needed, is always rock-solid.

Put this on a costco gaming chair paired with the ultimate purple cushion, an kiss your ass pains good bye!

Bought for office chair and vehicle and highly recommend

It is quite soft. Not so suitable as a seat cushion. The cover is nice but the zipper they put on the case is very cheap and not easy to open and close. For the amount of money u pay for this cushion, they could have put a better zipper on the case. In all honesty aside from the name. This is not worth 150 dollars.
