Does it cover the whole roof on a 4 door car?

Yes but it depends where you will have it plugged in. For example in my car (2016 Nissan Rogue) one of the USB plug ins is directly in front of the gear shifter and it can be angled properly to cover the whole roof. Keep in mind though did hit my eyes if i moved my head to the right because of where it was place. Its all going to depend where your USB plug in will be located on the car.

Will this work with cars that has a sun roof/moon roof?

It will work however only on headliner or tinted sunroof.
