GREAT MUG - but shipping experience from hell.
Update March 8: I finally got the mug on March 6. Judging from all the 1-star reviews they might had been replacing a lot of defective items. My mug is trouble-free, with the latch able to flip all the way back, no leaks or drips, and a good seal. I needed a mug that would not tip and this one has a good, low center of gravity. It's lefty or righty depending on how you screw on the lid, so I drink with my left and work with my right hand. It keeps the hot hot and the cold cold for many hours. I left it on the counter at noon and the coffee was still a good drinking temp at 5:00. It might seem a little pricey, but it's very solid. Awesome item but the shipping is from hell itself. Ordered on 2/23 with a delivery date when I ordered of 2/26. It became 2/28, then 3/3, and is now 3/5. It took 10 days to (finally, allegedly) ship the item. Will update to see if I actually get it.

Practically Unsinkable—The Perfect Everyday Mug
The Stanley Tough-to-Tip Admiral’s Mug lives up to its name and then some. The weighted base really does keep it steady and always upright. The double-wall steel insulation is outstanding, keeping coffee hot for hours and iced drinks cold well into the late afternoon and evening. I also love the thoughtful details: the comfortable handle, the snug lid that prevents splashes, and the rugged stainless-steel finish that shrugs off dents and scratches. It’s the rare mug that feels equally at home on a workbench, in a boat cabin, or on an office desk. If you’re tired of spills and want a durable, handsome mug that can handle anything, the Stanley Admiral’s Mug is a rock-solid choice. Highly recommended for anyone who wants their drink to stay where it belongs—inside the cup.

Super stable, Stanley quality
Anyone whose father used a 'lunchbox' to take meals to work, probably saw a large Stanley Thermos in use everyday. They seemed to be standard equipment for most blue collar workers, lasted forever and never failed to pour a hot cup of coffee when needed. Fast forward to today: I don't often need a large Thermos, as I do office work and only camp or work outside occasionally. But I DO need a solid cup. My cup normally sits next to my computer and has a very low profile. The wide base keeps it upright even when it gets bumped as I sometimes misjudge the distance a bit. It has only gone camping with me a few times. It keeps a beverage the temp you want and seals nicely. The odd shape makes packing a challenge unless you hang it on a carabiner or use a paracord sling. The handle is large enough to use even with work gloves on. I haven't tried winter gloves yet, but you should be able to get a good grip regardless. It might be me, but I find many cup lids have a tendency to dribble or drip when I drink from them, especially as they age and the seals loosen. Not so here. The lid is screws in tight and doesn't dribble when you drink from it. This is not a 'cupholder' sized cup. Its' rubberized bottom is designed to sit on flat surfaces and stay put. I can verify that it sits nicely on multiple brands of pickup truck hoods without scratching or marring the finish of the city trucks. That's not normally a concern for 'country' trucks..... Good cup, works as advertised and seems well built. The rubber bottom might eventually tear or crack, but there are no signs of breakdown yet. I can only hope it lasts as long as my Dad's Thermos.

A very nice mug!!
This is exactly as described and it's Stanley so it delivers just as you'd expect a Stanley product to! I got this for my son because he wanted to take coffee with him to the shop. He also had a huge lunch box, a coat and other things to haul along every morning and I was tired (SO tired) of mugs tipping over, coffee spills and watching him juggle everything out the door. Did I mention he's 13? Probs not cause who would admit they let their kid drink coffee!? But he's a farm kid and honestly if that's the worst he's gonna drink at 13 I'm gonna make that coffee for him! Anyways, this mug does not leak no matter how much you toss it around! You can easily grab it by the handle along with your lunch box and sling it out the door with you. It holds the perfect amount and keeps it hot! Total win! Highly recommend! Oh and I put everything in the dishwasher. This went in and out every day this winter with no worries! Still seals perfectly!

This untippable, unslippable mug really insulates!
The Stanley admiral mug has a squat, wide tankard shape that is very hard to tip over and is very slip resistant due to its rubber base. It doesn't insulate as well as an actual thermos-type bottle, but for a drinking cup, it's superior to anything I've tried before. ●Filled with ice water and ice cubes and left overnight, it still has some unmelted cubes after 8 hours! ●Filled with boiling water and left untouched for 5 hours, it was somewhat cooler but still hot. By this time it was drinkable, like hot coffee. ●Filled with fresh drip-brewed coffee, it stayed hot for a couple hours as I drank it down. So hot, that I poured a small amount frim time to time through the lid spout into a ceramic mug to cool it to where I could comfortably drink it! For someone who likes to savor a hot drink for hours, this is ideal. ●The outside of the mug stays at room temp though the neck and lid transmit some heat or cold. I like the classic Stanley hammertone green color and shape, and the lid seems to be sturdy and substantial.

Great cup but handle isn't quite tall enough for an Admiral...
The cup looks great, especially in the vintage green I remember from my dad's thermos. It does indeed hold 20oz even though it looks like it wouldn't. I put some ice water in it, and it didn't sweat, so the vacuum is intact. The flip cap is pretty tight, as some other reviewers have mentioned. I'm hoping it will loosen up just a little over time. My biggest gripe is that the handle isn't quite tall enough for a man's hand (it's about 2.5" clearance for your fingers), and you have to put your pinkie finger underneath. Not a huge deal, but another quarter to half inch taller would have made the grip more comfortable. It has a wide rubber base, so it won't slide around, nor will it tip over. Overall I'm pleased, and hoping it will last as long as dad's thermos, especially for the price. Note, I've heard Stanley doesn't offer a replacement for the lid, so I'm hoping to find an aftermarket lid that may fit in case it ever breaks. Also, the handle is attached with security torx screws. Since most people don't have these bits, if the screws ever loosen as per some negative reviews, you will need to purchase a cheap set of bits, and use a bit of loctite to reinstall them. I'll update this review if I ever run into issues.

Keeps drinks warm, real warm
Another great product from Stanley. I have had it a couple of weeks now and have enjoyed hot coffee and tea even on the coldest mornings while driving to work. The rubberized bottom prevents it from slipping on my dash or in the passenger seat. I have turn it upside down with liquid in it with the cap snapped shut, no leaking. The cap is a little difficult to open when it is snapped shut, I usually use my two thumbs to open the cover, it is the easiest way I have found. It cleans up easily with a dish cloth and a little soap and water. I did fill it with coffee and kept the lid sealed, opening it occasionally to take a sip it kept the coffee too hot to drink for over an hour like that. I then cracked the lid because I didn't want to continue waiting to drink it.

Best mug ever!!
Best mug! Especially, for a school bus driver! It keeps my coffee hot for hours. It also stays put.
