Pete the Cat's Super Cool Reading Collection: A Fun Set of Stories for Children (Ages 4-8) (My First I Can Read)

Great set, easy to read, nice variety, books have been perfect for a beginner reader. I felt like the length of the book was also great.

This is an absolutely wonderful set of books for any small child, especially if they love cats. We have had this set for about seven months and the carrying case and the books have held up well. When I bought them for my daughter she was in first grade and was able to read them all with little difficulty, there are a few larger words that she stumbled on, but they have been great for nightly reading and to practice reading. She loves cats and loves Pete the Cat. For at least a month straight this set of books went everywhere with us. Each story is different and is entertaining to read, even I was entertained. This set comes with five level one reading books, each a different entertaining story. Plus the illustrations are done very well. This set makes a great gift for any child and my daughter loves them. They are still read regularly and are a part of her personal library.

The stories are simple and easy to read for the little guy. Great practice using the sight words he is working with in school. The stories can be relatable so you can ask follow up questions to get the brain flowing.

I have a new reader! She asked for books, not toys, from Santa this year! This purchase was perfect as she will have many choices and make a new friend (Pete) in the process. Not only are the books delightful, they tickle her funny bone and she laughs. That tells me that she is doing much more than sounding words out, she is experiencing "reading comprehension." The books are packaged so nicely in the box with a velcro closure. The box is sturdy, not flimsy at all. I like that it will help encourage her to keep her books put away and tidy! The price of this set was about a quarter of what I would pay for one or two books at my local B&N. In fact I purchase all of her books on Amazon now, as the value is amazing!

The box: very sturdy, has a small handle, and velcro to open and shut the box. There is a space holder in there which my kid will probably use to color on so I like that too. Books: There are 5 exactly as described. They are perfect condition! This collection was perfect because it was reasonably priced with 5 books that we didn't have already.

I was looking for first readers and this turned out to be great. If you have a toddler that is ready to read this will help them a great deal and give them the confidence to try on their own. I would totally recommend this as it is nice to see my child smile when she does it by herself.

Very good book for 5 years old

I bought these for my niece's 4th birthday. She is just starting to read on her own, here and there, so I thought I'd get her something that was a bit above the baby/toddler book level. I saw the Pete the Cat books and though he was very cute and the stories seemed fun. I know that when my niece likes something, she's going to want to use (or in this case, read) that item over and over. This means re-reading the same books for my sister and brother-in-law. These books look fun and amusing even for the adults. My niece is already obsessed with them and is working on reading them with her parents. I also love how affordable these books are. Even the single, soft-cover books are very low in price, which I think is so important for a book that will be lightly (or heavily) abused if you're giving them to children of a young age. They are also light, thin, and portable, especially with the case that this set comes in. I would highly recommend these.

I would advise this to beginning readers, because of the way the story is written, something that I did not realise when I purchased to read to my 3yr old son. We have Pete's New Shoes and my son Loves that so I wanted to expand our Pete the Cat Collection. He loves all of these too, so for us a great purchase that we can continue to use as he grows and eventually read on his own.

I bought this for my 3-year old son... He has been hooked to these books ever since they arrived... Pete the cat books have been extremely popular and they certainly live up to the expectations.
