No. it is easily tipped over. Could be a problem if face down. I like mine because no one else, no pet can knock it over.

Does this heater make noise like a small fan? My girlfriend had an older one and loves the noise at night.

I would say that it is about like a small fan also. Not enough noise to be disturbing. I like the factthat is a fan plus heat, and heat really puts out but you can set the thermostat. Also like that is oscillates. Good buy for price, I like it I suppose that means the most. As far as putting you to sleep, don't know. Hope this helps. Ingram

Can you use it to warm up your hedgehogs area so they don't hibernate

I would suggest you need a "tube heater", but I can't find them in American Amazon. Amazon.co.uk has plenty of different sizes. They use electricity but are suitable for damp locations such as greenhouses or bathrooms.
