Great Deal For the Price
All other methods of adding Airplay involve replacing the existing in dash unit which is more expensive and more complicated. This unit is simple and does the trick for me so I am a happy camper. Even better, I can move it to other vehicles such as the u-haul I plan to rent later this month and drive cross country. The cords are annoying and the mount is a little crude but it works and works well and that is what is most important to me. The screen is responsive to touch. In fact, it is more responsive that I expected at that price point. My buying advice would be to keep your expectations low. At the low price you are paying, the minor hassle of cords and mounts are well worth the addition of Airplay to your vehicle. If you want a cord free experience and no mount, spend more dough and get an in dash model for at least double the price.

Great upgrade for older cars without built-in CarPlay
This was an easy way to add Apple CarPlay/Android Auto to an older vehicle. The touchscreen is responsive and the display is clear. Works well for navigation and music without modifying the car. Pros: simple install, responsive screen, adds modern features Cons: audio integration depends on your car setup (Bluetooth/AUX/FM) Bottom line: Excellent option if you want CarPlay features without replacing your factory head unit.

Such a great alternative!!! 10/10!
Such a great alternative if you have an older car but don’t want a new car just for apple car play!!! I am a cord freak. I had cords and always hide them, this was a challenge but not bad. Sound quality through fm transmitter is really good so I could eliminate the aux cord. It has to be plugged in via cigarette lighter/ car charger to be able to turn on and you have to use your phone charger to get car play to work (even brand new cars require you to plug your phone in for car play so I’m fine with the phone charger but this big power cord had to be hidden. So I took apart my dash/ radio area to run the cord behind it and hide it. It look about 40 minutes but I am not a car girl so took longer to figure out how to take it apart lol. But the end product is beautiful and I am very satisfied!! My car is a Lexus CT200h so I can’t just replace the screen for car play, I would have replace the screen and completely rewire everything which I was not doing and would have cost $500 to do it myself and probably $1000 if I bought the needed materials and paid someone to do it. So to do this for $288 is great. Recommend!!!!

Completely stopped working after 6 months, customer service no help
EDIT 3.1.22 - was able to get in contact with the customer service company after contacting Amazon directly to get the correct contact information. In order to to use the 1-year warranty on the product, they instructed that I needed to send the product in and to pay for the shipping. After paying $50 for shipping to get it cross country, I received the product 1 month later with the problem not fixed and no communication from the warranty provider. I have called their customer service line multiple times since and have been put on hold for north of an hour with no answer. Product is cheap and the customer service is no help. Save your money and do not buy this product. There are FAR better alternatives out there. Disappointed that a great company like Car and Driver treats their customers like this. --- Product was great for the first 6 months. Worked well and was a relatively cheap way to get Apple Carplay. After 6 months, the product completely stopped working. Would not connect to Apple CarPlay with any phone or cord. The product still turned on, however the carplay features would not work. Tried to reach out to customer service but the information listed on the product page is for Car and Driver magazine only. Aka, there's no customer service for this product. Do NOT buy.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I'm honestly not sure why thus has such bad ratings. It's exactly what I needed. My car is 1 model year before Apple Car play was added by my manufacturer, and a few years before Android auto (don't know exactly when Android Auto became a thing)... My GF has an iPhone, and I have a Samsung Galaxy... Her car is 3 years newer and has both already... But my car will only play music off of an iPhone almost like connecting a hard drive or something. I saw this and had to have it. I haven't mounted it yet, so no pics, but I hooked it up to test it, and it's amazing! I can connect my galaxy using Bluetooth, but the sound isn't great... This connects with Bluetooth as well... Ehhh... It can also connect through the FM transmitter which doesn't sound great either... What's a person (that wants quality audio) to do? Connect it to your stereo using the provided aux cord. Sounds pretty dam* good... I don't like the GPS that came with my car, and shows on my original screen, so this allows me to use Google maps on my newer secondary screen that will be mounted just above... Honestly, the only drawbacks I can think of is that since it's connected using the aux cord, I can't control the music with my steering wheel controls (but a quick tap of the screen works, or saying "Hey Google, Next song")... And the other is finding the best way to route the cables so they aren't just dangling down my dash and center console... Which is why I haven't taken the time to mount it yet... But there are a couple of easy suggestions right in the manual on how best to do it (and it comes with some cable clips for just that purpose), so I'll mess with it more this weekend. All in all, it looks great, and it sounds great. If your car already has carplay, and Android auto built in to your system, this adds nothing. If your car is a couple years older, this is exactly what you're looking for.

I got this for $79 CND and at that price I can't recommend this thing enough. I installed it in my work truck in a few minutes and I love it. It's quick to turn on and fairly snappy when in use. The way I have mounted it is rock solid. It also came with some cable ties that I used to clean up the wiring a bit. Overall I'd say if you don't want to mess around with a permanent headunit grab this thing!

It's a nice little display with good enough touch screen capability but definitely not worth $400.. The setup is quite wobbly, the screen shakes too much and the sound quality is just awful. It doesn't connect to car's own Bluetooth for sound or even phone calls. The phone calls can only be taken on its hideous speakers or your own phone, even though the car detects the calls but no connectivity to Bluetooth for sound. I have a rental car fleet and tried it on, definitely not a good experience for customers. Good for if you have a 1990 Toyota that has nothing in it.

I have an old minivan. It has a basic radio but it does have Sirius which I like. I thought that this would be nifty. It won’t stay connected to the windshield or dash. The mounting bracket is not fit for purpose. A hands free device is not if you have to hold it to ensure that it won’t fly around the cab of the car. It is getting returned.

A product is only as strong as it weakest link and the Achilles heal of the Intellidash+ is its faulty car charger which failed to function after only two weeks of light use and transformed this pricey gadget into an expensive paperweight! After contacting customer support via phone and email, they promised to send me a replacement car charger but with no ETA so I proceeded to purchase a third party charger (GutReise Universal 12V car charger) from Amazon Canada which worked like a charm. I recommended to the vendor to bundle a spare car charger, or better yet, provide a more reliable car charger for the Intellidash+. For those considering to purchase this item, I strongly recommend that you spend an extra C$20 or so to purchase a third party car charger as it is not a question as to whether the Car and Driver supplied charger will fail but WHEN.
