Does this pen have a scratchy feeling when writing on paper or is it smooth?

Despite their fine .38mm point, these pens write creamy smooth. As with any pen, actual results will depend on the paper used, and avoiding oil from the skin (such as hand lotions) contacting the paper. This of course soils the paper and ultimately the pen— resulting in skipping and even total failure. I’ve been using these pens (black & red inks) 20+ years. In that time I’ve only encountered a couple of duds. In general, these Muji’s glide flawlessly across the page while retaining their fine line.

how do these work for left handed people?

I'm left handed and it's perfect.

Do these pens come in 3 pens when you order them?

Yes, the ones that I bought came in a pack of three. Just make sure to look in the description, I know you can also buy ones that come in packs of five or ten.

Do these smudge when you highlight over them?

I tried highlighting over the ink with a zebra mildliner right after writing it and it did smudge lightly, but if you wait for the ink to dry it won't smudge.
