Amazing and powerful CPU. Use a good AIO or air cooler as this monster can get HOT especially if PBO (AMD OVERCLOCKING) is on.

Used mine for a home unRAID server. Works great and allows for a lot of VMs and allows for ecc registered memory.

A total beast from AMD as my first Ryzen build but needs a serious cooling even with Z73 AIO. This baby runs hot!

Over time, the processor started randomly overloading the computer. At first, the device worked fine, but after a couple of years, frequent reboots even when performing basic tasks. Because of this, it became inconvenient to use the computer for long periods of time, loss of important data, etc. Overall, given my initial expectations of smooth operation, the experience was disappointing. Exchanged by warranty, everything is ok now.

I'm currently running the 5950X in eco mode, which significantly reduces heat & power consumption while maintaining approximately 90% of its full performance. Under this configuration, power usage typically ranges between 15 watts at idle and ~88–95 watts under full load, depending on workload intensity. Cooling is straightforward; paired with a Corsair H100i, the processor maintains excellent thermal performance, averaging 38°C at idle, 45°C under light load, 50–57°C under moderate load & 67–77°C under full load. This efficiency makes the chip not only powerful but also practical for long-term use. From personal experience, every AM4 processor I’ve used, from the Ryzen 5 3600 up through the 5950X, has proven to be a reliable & worthwhile investment. Ryzen 9 5950X を長期運用しています。 16コアCPUですが、単に“多コア”というだけでなく、1CCD運用でも非常に素直で扱いやすいのが特徴です。 特に感じたのは以下の点です。 ・シングル性能が安定して高い（Zen3の完成度の高さ） ・1CCDだけで動かすとレイテンシが低く、発熱も少ない ・必要なときだけ2CCDを使える柔軟性 ・Curve Optimizer が深く入る個体が多く、調整の余地が大きい ・PPT 65W 運用でも十分な性能が出る（静音PCに向く） ・長期安定性が高く、今でも実用性が非常に高い ゲーム・動画編集・多タスクのどれでも安定して強く、 “静かで速いPC”を作りたい人には今でも十分選択肢になるCPUだと思います。 Zen3世代の中でも、5950Xは“完成形”と言える一枚です。1CCD時のメモリアクセスの揺らぎが少なく、 Zen3 の Unified L3 32MB が最も素直に効く構成。 CO -25 前後で安定する個体なら、Zen3 の美点を最大限に引き出せます。

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X acheté vers juillet août 2025 à 245€. Testé avec configuration 96 Go Crucial 1.2V 22CL+Carte mère Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 Un monstre qui vous ouvre sous Vivaldi (avec VPN Vivaldi steuplé) plus de 40 onglets en moins de 4s... ou qui vous permet de jouer les doigts dans le nez à des jeux extrêmement gourmands comme par exemple City Skyline 2 et le dernier Flight Simulator. Overclocké ce processeur est capable avec le PBO d'ouvrir Windows en 19-22s avec des applications au démarrage réseau très lentes : un autre processeur (un 3900X en comparaison) ouvre Windows 11 et ces mêmes applications réseaux en 30s. Ce processeur est donc une véritable référence à l'heure actuelle sur socket AM4. Prévoyez un gros stock de RAM de 32 Go (maintenant c'est trop tard vu les prix exorbitants de 2026...) et de disques SSD à plus de 7000 Mo/s pour le faire durer jusqu'en 2040. Attention : ce processeur chauffant beaucoup, je vous conseille un ventilateur Noctua à plus de 100€ (pour le top du top), ou bien si vos moyens sont limités (c'est mon cas), un THERMALRIGHT Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB V2 pour 45€ (au 26/01/2026) qui fait super bien le boulot (attention à la hauteur de 158mm dans le boitier). Les 16 coeurs ne sont franchement jamais atteints par les applications, au plus à la limite 12 coeurs tant ce processeur est véritablement ultime en terme de charge. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit du 27/04/2026 J'ai testé quelques uns des modèles de langage Ollama, notamment mixtral 8:22b en 32k tokens sur ce 5950X, 96 Go de RAM CL22, 7600XT Fighter 16GB à 22TFlops, CM identique que ci-dessus, SSD Crucial P5 Plus à 5500 Mo/s en lecture; Force est de constater que ce genre de modèle est extrêmement lent (1 mot par seconde... les 16 coeurs de mon CPU sont utilisés entre 50% et 55%), même avec des variables d'environnement favorables sous Powershell, de type : ollama serve $env:OLLAMA_NUM_GPU="10" $env:OLLAMA_NUM_THREADS="28" $env:OLLAMA_MAX_LOADED_MODELS="1" $env:OLLAMA_KEEP_ALIVE="-1" ollama run mixtral:8x22b Je savais que ce modèle était assez bon (niveau bon étudiant bac+3 dans la profondeur de réflexion), mais je crois qu'il faudra encore beaucoup d'années pour que les modèles de langages de type GPT 4.5 soient vraiment démocratisés sur machine locale... sauf bien évidemment si les ordinateurs quantiques font leurs apparitions avant pour le grand public.... On peut toujours rêver !!
