It is black and white newspaper type paper and no illustrations to go along with the recipes. That being said there are a lot of clever ideas that I would not have thought of on my own. It actually got my creative juices going once I realized all the things that can be made in my handy little pie irons. The recipes are divided by which pie iron you have but I noticed that with a little modification most recipes can be used in your basic square pie iron.
