Want it for next to my sewing machine.** A: I got this as a portable iron to take to quilt classes and retreats for use next to my sewing machine. It is light weight, and glides just fine. The steam ability is minimal to moderate, I would say, nothing like my full-sized Rowenta. The cord doesn't particularly get in the way, no more than any other. My big disappointment is that it doesn't get as hot as I would hope. But for small pressing tasks next to your sewing machine, such as pressing the seams of block pieces, I would say that it is a good value for the price, and up to the job. But for big pressing jobs, such as trying to press an entire piece of bolt-wide fabric, this would not be the best iron. **Q: I am looking for a small iron to use on Perler beads. Does this item get hot enough?** A: I'm not familiar with Perler beads. This iron does not get as hot as the small portable Rowenta. I consider it so-so, probably a fair value for the price. **Q: Does this iron have an on/off switch?** A: It has a dual voltage switch at the bottom 120V--240V, Temperature control dial, variable steam control and burst of steam button, no on/off switch.. **Q: Does it have automatic shut off?
