I caught fish on the first two casts with these baits. Paired them with a 1/16oz white jig head and dropped them overboard on a school of white perch my fish finder picked up. These are a perfect match for the size and color of the shad in Lake Norman in October.

Bobby's Bait Buster Supreme electric Boogaloo
These just plain catch fish. Use a jig head of either 1/16 or 1/32 and just get it in the water and it'll work. I like to go slower, and let it bounce off the bottom. Lighter colors, use when it's super bright out and water is clear. Darker, when water is murkier, or the clouds are out heavily. Something with a neon use if your water looks like chocolate milk. They work, no doubt. If I could only have one bait in my tackle box, it'd be one of these.

Best crappie baits I know. Take the time to check out all the colors/patterns, and figure out which will work best for your conditions (water clarity, time of year, etc.).
