I just bought wheatgrass powder yesterday and I have to say I have experienced immediate results. I did a ton of research on it and everything seemed safe and beneficial, so I figured I would try it out. I hope it's not the placebo effect, but I feel great! I have had plenty of energy all day and a great attitude! First off flavor: Everyone has been complaining about the flavor, but I think it tastes exactly like seaweed, which I like a lot. I can see how it isn't for everyone, but hey, if living forever was easy everyone would do it. Effects: I had an immediate boost of energy last night but was still able to get to sleep at a reasonable hour. I usually am very sensitive to stimulants (such as caffeine), but this gave me just the perfect amount of energy. More so lack of fatigue than crazy energy like a red bull. Nutritional value is left to be seen, but I will update in a week or so. "Regular movements": Just a warning, when you go to the bathroom it will come out green. Like Kermit the frog and spinach had a baby. Sorry to gross people out, but I thought you should know. Like I said before, it doesn't taste the best, and yes there are "other" side effects, but the benefits outweigh the negatives. All in all I am very excited to see how it will effect my life taking it on a continuous basis.

At first, I was a bit skeptical about all the benefits that were attributed to wheatgrass. Now after taking it for 2 months and losing 20 lbs, I am a firm believer! It makes you regular, reduces acidity in the body (good for people with gout), improves energy levels and clears up the skin. The best description I can give is that it is a full body cleanser. It has a "grassy" taste, but is palatable if you are a green tea drinker. I have introduced it to my friends and each one of them has said that it has been nothing but beneficial. I highly recommend this product.

I am a huge fan of Amazing Grass and have been using it for years. I buy the biggest containers because I literally use it on everything. I put it on Forbidden Rice "black rice", in smoothies and on salads and in dressings. It has a great earthy flavor and I find it better to eat than to drink. When I am not using it (which is only if I have run out)... I feel sluggish and my skin is not as good. I will use this product forever as it is the best brand on the market for RAW wheatgrass powder as far as quality and freshness. I normally purchase it at Whole Foods in large quantities when I can get it on sale. I am very please to now find it on Amazon so I may by large quantities and have them shipped directly to me whenever I need them. I strongly recommend this product!

I'm not a health nut per se, nor am I a vegetarian. I eat all foods, more healthily than your average American perhaps and prefer organic, but I'll nab a chicken sandwich from McD's in a pinch. But I do run a lot, and fitness buffs might share an experience I get pretty regularly: cravings for vegetables! When you put your body through physical stresses, I think it does a pretty good job of telling you what you need. So veggies really satisfy that craving, both for sustenance and feeling that I'm putting good nutrients in that my body is asking for. And this is where wheatgrass juice fades in... Through a little bird advertisement message or Amazon stumbling, I heard of wheatgrass and decided to investigate. My research pointed towards nutrient info, substantiated and unsubstantiated claims that sum to this: it's at least a healthy serving of veggies, plus maybe some protein, etc. I figured I'd give it a try. I'm now happy to report that wheatgrass is an amazingly refreshing alternative to crunching on or preparing veggies, choking down protein shakes after a run, or satisfying a general craving for something healthy to ingest pretty quickly. I drink usually two scoops at a time, shook up in a blender bottle, or one scoop if it's in the morning before work. After work or a run (H20 plus veggies? gold!), I can enjoy it a bit more, with the two full scoops, 2/3s a bottle full and fully shook up. Letting it sit a few minutes and slowly drinking it allows the powder to dissolve more quickly. If you're two quick, you're likely to get some green blobs in your teeth. But it's not bad, nothing like some stomach turning protein shakes (I am probably burned out on them). And hey, I might live longer, might stay younger, might heal strange diseases. None of that is bad, so who cares if it's not totally true! The only negative I've heard of is from an office mate, who appeared to relay second hand information about the fiber making you 'super-regular', if that makes sense. I'm plenty regular as it is though, and haven't noticed any change in that for better or worse. So take it for what it is, and enjoy some healthy wheatgrass! In case anyone cares, I don't sell the stuff or partake in the health food industry at all...I just buy the stuff! Enjoy!

I've been continuously using Amazing Grass for about one year. Amazing Grass is finely ground wheat grass, which differs from powdered wheat grass juice. (The latter is manufactured by first squeezing wheat grass to make juice, at which point the juice is freeze-dried to produce a powder.) Instead of mixing one full serving (8 g) of Amazing Grass in a glass of water, I only use half (4 g). This results in a diluted solution, which may improve drink-ability for those who aren't fond of the taste. To get a full 8 g serving of Amazing Grass per day, I drink one glass of the diluted solution in the morning and one glass before bed. Even at full strength, however, Amazing Grass doesn't taste too bad. That said, it's not something that most people would drink on a regular basis if they didn't think there were health benefits. The only other green drinks I've tried are Source Naturals Yaeyama Chlorella and Green Magma. My highest ranking for taste would be Green Magma, which has the most neutral taste profile. (Though it's been a while since I've had it, so my recollection is not too clear.) Tied for second place would be Amazing Grass and Source Naturals Yaeyama Chlorella, both palatable yet differing in taste profiles. To oversimplify a bit, Amazing Grass tastes like the farm and Source Naturals Yaeyama Chlorella tastes like the sea. I keep my Amazing Grass in the freezer, and regularly transfer a few weeks worth of servings to a resealable bag so I don't need to repeatedly open the product container and let air in. I haven't noticed any increase in energy from drinking Amazing Grass. In fact, it sometimes feels like I have lower energy several hours after drinking it. I have no idea why this would be the case. My only theory is that it could be interfering with the absorption of my iron pills, which I take regularly to manage chronic anemia. Amazing Grass does not have an appreciable effect on my bowel movements, besides imparting a greenish color. The amount of fiber in Amazing Grass doesn't seem to be significant relative to my total daily fiber intake, but your mileage may vary. (Note: I've also read that green drinks may help reduce body odor, but I don't have any way to objectively measure this for myself.) So basically, I can't present a rational explanation of why I drink Amazing Grass, which is why I'm not sure if I will continue to do so. In the past, I've looked at it like an insurance policy, to ensure that I'm consuming at least some "green foods". However, relying on a supplement like this may have the effect of reducing the amount of nutritionally complete whole foods in one's diet. Perhaps a more reasonable alternative is to buy one of the newfangled blenders that can turn vegetables and fruit into healthy smoothies. (I personally use a NutriBullet, and I'm fairly happy with it.) There is one clear benefit of drinking Amazing Grass, though, which is that I'm consuming more water. I find it difficult to drink the amount of water that's generally recommended, so it's nice to have that extra glass in the morning and before bed. An updated product label advertises a "finer grind", which hasn't made it any easier to mix, as far as I can tell. That said, I think the new finer grind imparts a slightly less grainy mouth feel. The 17 oz size container is tall and somewhat narrow, making it difficult to reach the last bit of wheat grass at the bottom using the short scooper that's included. I suggest pouring some water into the container and shaking it to get one last serving's worth. Even though I'm not sold on it's benefits, I give Amazing Grass four stars because I think it's a quality product, and the manufacturer doesn't seem to be making any outlandish claims or promises. For an alternative that's formulated to be a more complete nutritional supplement, and one with a high Amazon customer rating and broad appeal, I would suggest giving the popular Green Superfood (by Amazing Grass) a try.
