This lock was simple to install and set up. It connected easily with my Smartthings hub and works with all of my automation plans. This is stark contrast to the three Schlage Smartsense locks in my house that are less than 3 years old. They were difficult to connect to Smartthings and are often "unavailable". Two of the locks have failed and have had to be replaced. The Yale lock appears to be a great alternative in terms of price, installation and ease of use.

So far, it was all I expected and more. The lock paired easily with my ST hub and I am using it with the Enhanced Auto Door Lock app and the Smart Locks one. It opens and closes very smoothly. It is well made. The only thing I did not like but I fixed right away - it locks itself if you press any button on the exterior side. This can be a problem if you have a door closer - the door can be slammed with the latch extracted. I disabled this right away. The battery indicator still shows 100% after two weeks of use. I programmed it to auto lock after a short delay with the Enhanced Auto Door Lock app. I had to delete a few lines of code there not to allow the app to send an unlock command. It works perfectly now. More than a year later - it still works as it should. The batteries lasted for about a year with light use. The lock survived the humid Florida weather without problems. It is not exposed to direct sun or rain but it can get wet when it is windy. If you see the battery indicator showing 20%, replace the batteries.

This Yale lock replaced a Kwikset electronic combination lock that would constantly give us trouble and jam. Ordered it this morning, delivered this evening (wow!), and it installed in about 20 minutes. It was pretty effortless compared to the Kwikset. This is the version with a Z-Wave module. It took a couple of tries to get it into connection mode, but it was quickly discovered by my Hubitat Elevation automation hub once I figured out the Yale menu option. Tested locking and unlocking with the Hubitat, then added the lock to Alexa Skill. Alexa quickly discovered the lock. I did not enable Alexa to unlock by voice, but I did enable unlock with the Alexa app. That worked great too. Next challenge will be to set up geofencing so the lock will automatically unlock when my son or I come home. There's a Hubitat app on Github called Presence Central which should assist in creating location based automations.
