I was happy to find projectors were running in the $75 to $300 range and set out to do extensive research to find a suitable replacement. This Poner Saund Model M8 seemed to have many good reviews and offered the legacy connections my installation required and HDMI which allows direct connection of the ROKU box so I can take full advantage of the higher resolution this projector provides. The one thing I could not quite discover was the facility to mount it on the ceiling and the actual size of the unit. As it turns out this projector is a bit larger than the ViewSonic and has four mounting screw locations compared to the three required on the ViewSonic. Luckily the tread size was the same because the screws that come with the Poner Saund where too short to be used with my homemade wooden ceiling mount. The valuable bit of information that was nowhere to be found in my search was the dimensions of the mounting points so I am publishing that here: 8-11/16"w X 6-3/16"d - see the picture and note you have to peel off the rubberized pads to expose the mounting points. I am quite satisfied with the projected image and am glad for the X-Y zoom adjustment which allows me to shrink the massive image projected from twelve feet back. And the 4 point keystone adjustment was a breeze to set. The settings menu is a bit "clunky" but gets the job done. I am a bit annoyed that even though I need to shrink the image to fit my screen the menu display still projects at the massive (Un-adjusted) display size. I did experience some lag (loss of lip-sync) when running the ROKU video via the RCA "Video-In" with the sound via a remote stereo auxiliary amp, so I decided to plug ROKU direct into the HDMI and use the projector's built-in speakers and found them to be quite adequate for day-to-day entertainment. I can still pipe-in video from the computer via the legacy video-in and see NO lag in synchronization via the auxiliary amp. I need to rethink my entertainment center in light of the available features of the new projector but all-in-all I think I made a really good choice with this projector. I was pleased to learn that the default settings were a midway setting and I still had a lot of brightness and contrast adjustment to play with. I have decided to run the fans on high speed (in the hopes of extending the life of the device and find the noise from the fans to be minimal and far quieter than the old ViewSonic even when running it in low speed mode. This is an attractive, well-made projector that seems well worth the money. In a darkened room the image is as crisp as any cinema and in daylight conditions still delivers a viewable image when projected on the matte-white, retractable screen installed in my viewing room. I was happy to find projectors were running in the $75 to $300 range and set out to do extensive research to find a suitable replacement. Picture is clear and even with some lights on. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My first projector purchase *by J***M on September 9, 2020* This is my first projector so I have nothing to compare it to, but these are my honest opinions: The picture quality is amazing on my 100" screen, and I assume picture quality would be just as good on a 150" screen, but the brightness and quality does drop off slightly when I project it on my (white) garage wall at 200" (but that might be because it's a wall and not an actual screen) But 200" is HUGE When I place the projector beyond about 20 feet to get a larger than a 200" or so display, It seems the projector focus ring is maxed out, and I lose the ability to get the focus any sharper, although it is still watchable. The sound quality from the projector sounds good and is clear and loud, but I hook it to a sound bar through the 3.5mm aux out cable with a 25' aux cable, and that works great. There are plenty of adjustments to get the picture just how I want it, but it's a little tricky at first to figure out the settings. There is no Dolby support (no big deal) so if you hook it to a Blu-Ray or Roku stick thru the 2 HDMI, you need to go to the sound settings on the Blu-Ray of Roku and turn off Dolby or you will get no sound. The fan noise is noticeable, I tested it and it is around 48db about 1 foot from the projector, and that is what the manufacturer's description claims. I don't know what other projectors db levels are, I guess 48db is louder than I thought. I put mine in a large closet to project though an opening and it cut down on the noise a lot, a imagine any projector will be as loud or louder. Overall I am enjoying this projector and am happy with the purchase. Edit: I've had this for a couple months now and it is working perfectly. I've researched many projectors in this price range and have yet to find one with the same features in this price range ( I especially like the feature that allows me to adjust each of the 4 corner "points" individually to give me a perfect level rectangle picture) I've moved it from the closet (about 21 ft) to get it closer (about 12 ft) to my screen, and the picture quality improved dramatically. I can easily get 120" diag screen that is bright and beautiful. I have built a small "hush box" out of plywood and sound absorbing material and a USB fan to vent the heat. The hush box blocks the projector noise to nearly unnoticeable.
