Imagine Me

While Imagine Me isn’t Ignite me in any fashion (I’ve read Ignite me 5 times alone in itself) I think this book served the series well. I got what I wanted out of the whole series and have reread the last 80 or so pages of this one 3 times cause I enjoyed it enough. I did get all of the last 3 books less than a week ago and quickly read through them and was overall pleased. I read some of partially negative reviews so I didn’t go into this last chunk with high hopes but again, I think they all tied nicely together (given random missing pieces and lack of plot lines here and there.) I agree with another reviewer that it was good they did this from Juliettes view and Kenji’s as Warner might have been too much of the same as Juliettes since they’re always around each other. His love for her is my favorite thing about the series overall and I’ll always remember the line from Ignite Me “It's the kind of kiss that inspires stars to climb into the sky and light up the world…” WOW simply wow. They are honestly my two favorite book characters out there aside from Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.

This is the last book in Juliette/Ella and Warner’s story, at least the last full novel in the series. There is a novella that comes after this one. I recently learned that a whole new series is set to be released 10 years later, following James. Of course, I’ve already preordered it because I’m a sucker for beautiful books. Honestly, I’m glad to see this series come to an end. While I plan to read the final novella, I believe Mafi should have wrapped things up at the conclusion of the original trilogy. In this book and the second half of the series, I felt that Juliette and Warner regressed; all their character growth seems to have been lost. Warner is not a decent person unless Juliette is around, and it feels like everyone just bends to their will. On the other hand, Kenji really carries this book. The second half of the series should have focused on him, as he has better character development, and his story arcs make much more sense. The ending felt rushed, especially after the six books we spent getting to this point, and it didn’t seem satisfying. Adam and James, important characters in the story, are barely mentioned. That said, Mafi’s writing is beautiful; she is a talented author who paints a wonderful picture. However, I am relieved to be done with these characters.

I’ve absolutely loved this series and have devoured it.. but the ending to this one felt very anticlimactic. Between the back and forth to Oceania, and the Supreme Commanders becoming their own demise, this ending just left me feeling like it needed more. Everything felt rushed in the last few chapters and was a little disappointing. Instead of Juliette fighting Warner after all the supreme commanders killed each other, it felt as though there should have been more action? It was supposed to be a full on war, and all the leaders of the war ended each other then left Juliette to fight the love of her life? What was supposed to happen had she succeeded? I know there’s more books to this world as well as a novella to wrap up the original Shatter me series, and I hope they wrap up everything better, because this book felt very unfulfilling. I love that the series was extended after the original trilogy, it just felt like this one was missing something.

Every single time I read a book by this author I’m always blown away!! I will always recommend this book to other people!!

(SPOILER ALERT) This was NOT my favorite book out of the series. Honestly, I like this story better as a trilogy. However, I do love the way she writes and I still read this book fairly quickly. There was A LOT happening in this book. Almost too much? I understand she needed to up the stakes, but I liked the first three books and who Juliette was, where she came from and her purpose etc back then. This twist that happened in the fourth or fifth book with Juliette having a sister and there being a ton of other things that we didn't know about... I felt like it was a reach; a stretch that didn't need to be. There's a quote for artist that says, 'Art is never done. You have to abandon it.' Perhaps this story should have been done after the third. The thing I liked least about this book was that Juliette didn't play a driving force in the plot. In fact, she was hardly in it at all. I found this frustrating. Kenji (Who i love), did most of the story telling. And while I love him, I count on him for the comic relief, the best friend, etc. It was strange with him taking the lead on this book. I agree with previous reviews that this book felt rushed. It felt like there were holes. And then James had a little role in the book and Adam might as well not have been there at all. And he came in at the very end as a completely changed person... A total 180. It felt rushed. Trying to tie up loose ends quickly. We don't know how he feels about Juliette or about how her and Warners relationship changes in this book. (I think he would have some feelings toward it. And I'd like to know James reaction as well...) And then of course theres Warner. I disliked the fact that he was a horrible person without Juliette. I mean Kenji was broken up about her being in trouble and gave in to the unknowns from time to time, but his character didn't revert back to three books ago... Like may aspects of this book, it was a little unrealistic; a little over dramatic. Lastly, Warners Dad not being able to die and how he kept coming back from the dead... I could have done without that. It was such a trumpet moment in the third book when 'J' killed him and it felt like it took away from that. Anyways. sorry to be a downer about this book. I'm still processing. Ill leave with this: I will forever read Taherehs' books. She's still a wonderful writer and story teller. This one just wan't my favorite.

The book story itself is fine but I’ve had some issues with jagged edges. I’ve ordered paperback and there’s no issue but whenever I order a hard cover it either comes dented or with those nasty edges. But the book itself is spectacular and I’ve loved the series.

This book is perfection!!! It kept me on my toes. I could barely sleep last night because I needed to know how this was gonna end. I was terrified at 60% and 80% that this was going to lead to another book and I would have to wait some indeterminate amount of time to finally know how this ends. I’m so thankful for the wonderful wrap up! I wouldn’t mind another book. But this was perfect. I worried the end would be rushed, but surprisingly if felt just right!! Such an absolutely amazing series!!!!!! I can definitely say I’m glad I own this set! Highly recommend!!!!!

This series is a favorite among the teens and goes non stop. They have several editions and my daughter is in full reading spree. She is already fast but with this book even faster.

This novel breaks all the rules of plot structure. It starts on a climax, builds to another, and another and so on until it ends on an emotional climax! This cannot be the end.

I didn't like the ending :(
