works as advertised
I decided to power a few electronic devices on my boat with 12 volts as opposed to using the wall wart power chords that depended on 110 volt AC. A lot of devices, like my router, mini pc, disk drive enclosure, etc. use 12 volts. The one issue with using the boat's 12 volt system to power these devices is that the actual voltage can get well over 14 volts when the boat's batteries are being charged. Im not sure the electronic devices can tolerate this higher voltage. This device takes in the voltage of the boat's 12 volt (nominal) DC system and outputs 12 volts. It arrived promptly, was easy to install and works fine.

Works but not for my application
Unit maintains a 12vdc output source but draws a lot of amperage when recharging the capacitors. So much draw that it shut down my outboard motor for safety reasons. The motorโs charging system detects high output. I wanted to maintain a constant 12vdc for the depth finder and it worked but with motor shutting down I couldnโt use regulator. Kept for an unknown future project.

great power regulation for sensitive electronics!
This is working well to regulate power to a mini-pc installed in my RV. I found the PC is too sensitive to handle 13-14V or ripple from the RV house batteries, so this solves that and it's been stable since I installed it!

Great for regulating solar panel to 12V.
I am using this between a 100W solar panel that puts out 17-18V in full sun, and this regulator puts out a nice 12.6-12.8V that I then run to a 12V vehicle fan to exhaust heat out of my shop when it is sunny out. When clouds come over the solar, this unit will put out what it can get from the solar panel, I have tested 4.4V output from the panel and regulator, and that was enough to keep my fan running. The regulator won't just cut off when it drops below the input and output specified voltage, so that may be something you need to worry about if your application requires a consent voltage. In the photo, you can see the regulator sharing the solar input with a charge controller. I went with this regulator so I could run the fan from the solar with no batteries attached.

Well built
Sturdy construction of cast aluminum finned for cooling with mounting points. Leveled off my trucks 14.4 volt output to exactly 12 volt. Clear labeling made wiring easy.

Bulky size
Ordered this for my 2003 gsxr 1000 to use for my led lighting kit. The only thing I didnโt like was the size of this, it was too big and took up a lot of space under my passenger seat

Heavy duty
Seems externally strong and heavy duty. Ran it now for two months with no issues. Heat sink puts out decent heat but does the job!
