My Beauty Diary Facial Mask, Royal Pearl Powder 2015, 10 Count

About 6 months ago I discovered the r/asianbeauty subreddit and its completely changed my skin! I learned AB rule #1 is MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE and the importance of sheet masking in maintaining the moisture levels/barrier of your skin. I've tried a couple different brands of sheet masks, but after going through two boxes of the Lipsome Hyaluronic Acid these I've ordered my third and it's safe to say that MBD sheet masks have reached holy grail status for me. First off, my skin profile is pale skin, combination, acne prone (mid 20's) with some PIH. I'm always worried about products breaking me out, but this mask has never caused me to breakout. Some sheet masks I've tried have a really funky fit on my face with extra sheet I have to fold, but these go on perfectly and smooth. The sheet masks are SOAKED with a lot of essence goodness! First I gently cleanse my face with my Hada Labo foaming cleanser, then I put a headband on, put my mask on, set a timer for 30 minutes, and lay down an watch an episode of something. When I'm done there's usually some moisture left on the mask so place it on my neck and let it sit for another 10 minutes. I love the fact that the essences in these masks don't make your face sticky for a long time afterward - after taking it off my face is usually dry within 20 minutes. I can tell such a difference in my skin after taking it off, and even for 24-36 hours afterward! When I wake up the next morning my skin is SO smooth, bright, and plump from all the moisture. I can also tell that when I apply makeup the next day it looks so much smoother, even and natural looking from the plumping due to the moisture in the mask. I find that its most effective when used before bed, once the essence has dried on my face then I apply my toner, essence, serum, moisturizer immediately afterward and let dry before going to bed. 10/10 would recommend and at $13 per box (8 masks so $1.60 per mask) its a steal. I've heard rave reviews of the Bird's Nest and Black Pearl variety so I'm trying those next.

This is my favorite of the My Beauty Diary brand. I've found the results are consistent with their claims. In my experience--I have seen my skin slightly lighten in a way that seems to just help evening my skin tone while my skin feels way more hydrated. My skin tends to be fairly dry so I like masks/treatments where I feel like my face is soaking it in. In terms of my facial regiment I have a consistent routine and then oscillate between the black pearl/other MBD masks with a few other facial treatments throughout the week. As far as application and frequency--hydrating masks can be used pretty frequently without negative impacts. For this mask, because I do genuinely notice my skin lightening, I tend to use it 2-3X/week because I like the tone of my complexion and try more to maintain it.I have never experienced any irritation with these masks. Sometimes I leave the mask beyond the recommended 20-30 minutes until it dries out essentially. It all depends on what sort of results you want. But I am not an expert by any means and always remind someone to be cautious/trust your instincts if something doesn't feel right. This product is a lot like their others, they shouldn't be stinging or anything! Also to read over reviews and ingredients to be sure it's right for you!

You know how moms never spoil themselves, right? Well one day I had visited the fam and brought some masks for everyone to try. One of my mother's primary concerns for her skin is sagging and dullness, and she is always game to try out new products for these issues. I chose the MBD hyaluronic acid mask because I figured that if she didn't like the sensation of the mask, at least she could like the benefit. Hyaluronic is clinically proven to hydrate your skin, so I thought "can't hurt, right?"Let me tell you though--after 20 minutes, my mom was SOLD! I took off her mask and she was honestly amazed by how smooth and supple her skin looked. I told her it was a large part of asian beauty, and that masking is huge. She laughed and said that she was so down to get in on the trend. So I bought her this set for a gift. She loves it and is now trying to mask every other day. I think I started an addiction...but at least it's one where that makes her glow! I've used this mask before too and I honestly love how fresh it makes me look, and my skin is always so nice and smooth the day after. 10/10 would buy again.

MBD masks are some of my favorite reliable sheet masks. So far the Black Pearl is my favorite of this brand, but the Aloe was nice. I had expected it to be mostly soothing aloe, but there are quite a few other ingredients. Nothing broke me out or caused problems with my mildly sensitive dry skin, but people with sensitivities may want to check the ingredients. This mask may be best suited to those with oily or acne prone skin.The mask was moisturizing without being heavy and though it had a fragrance it was not as smelly as some "aloe" products I have used. This is a good sheet mask to put in the fridge. The fit is on the smaller size (for me) I always need to snip across the nose piece on masks so they lay flat under my eyes.This is the fourth MBD mask I have used and though not my favorite of the ones I have tried, I liked it and think it may be a good choice for other skin types.

There is a clear backing on these masks so they're interesting to "unwrap" because of this I find that it is difficult to get it completely unwrapped and on my face before it drips a little so watch where you are when you put it on.The product feels great on my skin, I think it helps my face heal when I get overzealous and try to pop zits. It doesn't fit on my face well, even though most masks I find this to be an issue - This brand in general I have to do a bit more cutting, but if I just cut the nose from mouth to eye they seem to fit just fine.The little bit of adjusting makes it worth it as the product is very well saturated and I can leave it on a bit longer than the recommended time if I would like.
