no..I have used it with a direct audio interface and have gotten very clean recordings from it...in fact I now prefer the sound of this to my earlier favorite condenser mic.

Q: Does this mic come with a cord or do I have to buy that seperately?

Buy your own. Mics don't come with cords - good mics, that is.
