Taylor & Colledge Vanilla Bean Paste with Seeds, 4.9oz Tube

Purchased for flavoring macaron batter. This is a nice gel form that doesn’t affect the macaron batter - and adds nice flavor to the almond flour macaron shells. All the recipes say to be careful added liquid flavoring as it can change the texture or proper macaronage of the batter. So I bought this and it’s been a perfect fit.

I use this in my Ninja Creami recipes. It gives the ice cream a rich vanilla flavor and is the next best thing to using whole vanilla beans. It also mixes in easily.

The versatility of this product is amazing, the texture in your food is like normal extract, it avoids that alcohol taste and aroma, I use this now in all cases where I used to use vanilla extract.

A recipe I was making called for vanilla paste, so I ordered a tube of this. I was very disappointed. The formula is more of a slimy gel, and is slightly viscous and runny. The texture was pretty off-putting and reminded me of the slimy trail a slug leaves behind, which is likely due to the Gum Tragacanth used in the ingredients.There are visible vanilla bean seeds contained in the slime, but I thought the taste was artificial and cloying. I didn't get anything extra taste-wise by adding this to the recipe than I would have with straight vanilla extract.Next time, I am simply going to scrape some vanilla bean pods, use some extract and call it good.
