This is a very beautiful book and its something I will read over and over again.

Fantastic story from the start but the packaging was so basic, some of the pages were shrink and folded.

Being the winner of so many awards, my expectation was high. I found it is below average. Last qtr of the book have many page filling chapters. May be i am not a good reader 😬

I really value my books. When opening the package. The cover was already damaged at the top. A bit disappointed!

今年購入して一番良かった書籍。 著者の詩的なセンスが光る登場人物づくりで、ちょっとした仕草の描写ひとつとっても、心理描写を表現する象徴的な動作になっており、表現したいメインテーマから外れる蛇足の文章はみじんもない。 単なる状況描写、臨場感のみを求めた文体という文章ではなく、ことごとく比喩的で、心理描写を隠喩している象徴的な描写になっておりアート性のある文体の小説家だ。小説の手本のような作りだ。 物語の構成は綿密に組まれ、非常に丁寧なつくりの作品。何度も推敲したに違いない。 ピュアでヒューマニズムに満ちたストーリーだ。 主人公が目の見えない少女で、誰もが光や希望を見いだせない戦時中を舞台にした詩的な配役。目に見えぬものを待ち望んでいるのは盲目の少女だけでない。この時代の人々も、今を生きる人々も変わらない気分になる。 読者はストーリーが展開していく時代背景において、盲目の少女が象徴するような光の見えない時代の立場に引き込まれる。 学芸員という父親と幻のダイアモンドという宝物も象徴的かつ詩的で、作品のかしこにちりばめられる隠喩の全てに美しさと人間らしさを感じられる。 舞台は過去のストーリーながらも、近年の時事とオーバーラップしてしまう。 昨今は戦時中や冷戦中を舞台背景にした小説がとても遠い過去のストーリーとは割り切れぬ時勢になってしまった。 日本では反共を掲げている連中が親共主義、外国勢力によるファシスト政治団体がスパイ防止法を叫び、外国勢力政権に服従する愛国心国家が作られようとしていたという嫌な時事。 日々精神的にまいっていたところだが、本書は日常に一種の清涼感をもたらしてくれた。 テーマをさしひいても小説としての完成度が非常に高く、間違いなく星5だ。 ネタバレはさしひかえる。 アマゾンの配送はスムーズでよかった。
