Blue Synthetic Oar with Grip Review: Nice set of oars for 12 foot boat. - We purchased this set of oars for a 12 foot jon boat. They are well made and work well on a lake or pond. I don't think they are heavy enough to use in shallow water on a routine basis where they would repetitively strike obstacles or hit bottom. Side note: These oars in their oversized shipment packaging were given to the post office to deliver. There is nothing in the postal system that can handle a 2 foot by 2 foot by 8 foot box. Review: Sturdy - I started to give these 4 stars because the length gives you quite a workout. 6' is too short for the width of our boat. I should have measured so reducing it a star for my error isn't fair. I wanted to reduce it one star because the grips spin causing the paddle part to change direction making you paddle air instead of water!! Again maybe the awkwardly wide hold is causing too much stress on the grips and they were forced to spin? Luckily we only use them in case of a dead trolling battery. They're nice and sturdy and will do just fine.

Looks to be a good quality oar and I like the blade size
Seems strong and company said it is built for white water when I called them before ordering. These are not the HD aluminum oars I used commercially on class 5 water, but they are a fraction of the price. Blade is proper size. I will only be using on class 4 on my Hyside paddle cat I built a frame for so these should do nicely. Main thing is figure your oarlock height and the width of the boat before ordering. There are many sites online to help you with this.

Perfect for my Boat
I used these (ya gotta buy two, remember that) on a 12 foot flat bottom boat and they are perfect. They remain sturdy without flex under heavy rowing. I don’t think I could bend them unless I purposefully smashed them into a tree. I have no worries about bending them by rowing. Be sure not to tighten the oar mounts too tightly on the oar. Doing that would compromise the integrity of the oar.

Good replacement for wooden oar
I bought a pair of these oars to replace wooden oars that have deteriorated by having to be outside in the boat. They work just as well as the wooden oars and, surprisingly, are exactly the same weight as the wooden oars. So they do not save weight. The padded handles have yet to produce any blisters after long use. To keep clamp-on oar locks in place, I use old inner tube material since the oar shafts are smooth and polished.

Heavier than wood.
Heavier than my wood oars of exact same size. After weighing them, confirmed 2.5 pounds more for the pair. Also they are sold separately which isn’t a big deal. After first use they have water inside them with no way to empty, making them even heavier. On the plus side, they seem to be made with heavy aluminum and durable plastic that should last a long time.

Excellent oars, better than wood!
I bought a pair of wooden oars and had one snap my second time using them… Purchased these and have been very happy with them. Very lightweight, but strong. I’ve used these multiple times and can really put some pull into them. And they look good too.

Very Pleased
These oars are light and handle very nicely. Whereas I would always have to take my wooden oars into the boathouse, I leave these ones out on the boat and they continue to show no signs of weathering issues. Very pleased with the product!
