perfect!
I needed or wanted a counter for fruiting plants that needed a timed harvest. Perfect. The unit is just as advertised. I use it all the time now for an automation. I never have to guess age or harvest date. I installed a heavy magnet so I can attach it to a tent where I want it.

The MOST Fun to Watch
I bought this countdown clock in July 2024 as a fun way to watch the time go by as I moved toward my retirement in June 2026. I can say, this has been the best $$ I've spent on Amazon for fun, for laughs, for friends, family, and co-workers teasing me about how much longer. Yes, it's ridiculous and I've enjoyed every second of it! (ha ha, get it? every *second*?) The fact that this counts down to the second is literally what makes this clock so ridiculous and so much fun. I did have a crisis on Christmas Eve when I looked up only to find the batteries had run down, but fortunately, I had some CR2035 batteries on hand. No way was I hitting a store for batteries on that day! Yes, I had to reprogram the clock, but it was easy enough. Batteries lasted about as long as the manufacturer said they would - ~1.5 years. I can't speak to the buzzer when the countdown ends, but that will happen in 178 days, 23 hours, 58 minutes and 50 seconds. (SO much fun getting to say that!) Size is nice, it's easily readable, and I keep it on a shelf over my monitor. It's made of inexpensive plastic exterior, and it has magnets if you are so inclined to mount it but I haven't. I love to grab it and show it during online meetings, as I'm often asked for the countdown.... or how I can estimate to such accuracy for the rare few who don't know about my countdown clock already. I do wish I had got a clock that also shows the actual time, but I have my computer, phone, and other things for that. And it is exactly what I wanted - a countdown clock to my well-deserved retirement! (178 days, 23 hours, 54 minutes, 37 seconds now.... ) :D

Doesn't count down just retirement.
When I proposed to my girlfriend she made me promise to give her 20 years. I bought this as a wedding gift to count down 7300 days to the end of the 20-year agreement. The happy side is it starts counting upward to show how many extra days she is receiving. It is a little frustrating trying to remember which button to hit to go from days, hours, minutes and I had to start all over again. Be careful with them buttons. She does absolutely love it even if it is a little morbid.

Retirement Countdown
This is one of few counters available that can count the number of days to my retirement. Works great. Magnetic back is a plus.

Works, has to be manually set like an old desktop clock, and DON'T pause (might lose everything)!
A neat gimmick, but if their retirement is a long way off, be prepared to have to manually set the thing again and again. I'll update this review when my wife tells me the battery dies to give you an idea. I doubt it'll get more than a year. It is capable of going out over a decade, I'll give it that, and it's very readable, but setting it is a pain! Try not to bump ANY of the buttons! It could also use a stronger magnet.

Exactly what we were looking for!
Doesnโt say retirement on the black one we purchased, which Ilisnwhat we wanted as we used it for a Disney countdown! Have already repurchased as we have made more as gifts!

Time waits for no one
If it did, I would not need this timer, but it's compact and has a magnet in the back. My only reservation is that, in order to set the timer for six years in the future, when I will retire, I had to hold down the set button for several minutes. If the were a separate button for years, I would not have to use those precious minutes this way. Especially since letting go of the set button takes you back to zero. Maybe they don't expect anyone to think this far ahead. Still very handy.

Only counts back one year
Hard to program. It only counts back to one year. I wanted to use it to count down the dates to a new presidential election. It didnโt work for that, because the new election is three years away

Works Great!
Magnet is nice and strong. Easy to set. My son likes watching it count down to his vacation.

It works and I want to give it 3 1/2 stars.
First problem as many others have mentioned is the magnets fall off. Not a big deal as they can be glued back on with better glue. Second it will countdown for a long time , 25+ years, but the batteries will last two years at the most. Then you have to reset the timer every battery change. Third, there is no backlight which would be nice but it would drain the batteries even faster. Overall for the price it is a good buy.

IT IS TINY!!! Beware!
I know it gives you dimension, but it also has pictures comparing it to other objects which is extremely deceptive. if you want a tiny credit card size timer, it's great. If you wanted something the size of a normal phone, it'll be very disappointing.
