They're actually hard plastic, I thought they would be soft silicone, which made me worry how well they would stick. I cleaned the Dpads and buttons with rubbing alcohol to remove oils from my fingers so they would stick better. They feel pretty secure. I applied pressure for a bit to the stickers before putting the caps on. The only one that feels a bit unsecure is my custom Dpad I got on Etsy, which has a weird sunken part in the middle of it. But on my switch lite, where the Dpad is completely flat, the cap feels fine. The instructions say to only use 2 stickers for the Dpad caps, but I used 4 for both of them (and I still have 4 stickers left in case I want to swap the colors later on or need to replace the stickers). Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and they look great on my switches.
